North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service invites applicants to an exciting opportunity for Firefighter transferees to join our teams at various locations throughout the County of North Yorkshire and City of York. We would like to hear from highly motivated, flexible and adaptable Firefighters who wish to transfer into the Service. We have vacancies at a range of Fire Stations and also as part of our Operational Staffing Reserve at:

- Scarborough
- Malton
- Northallerton
- Tadcaster

Applicants should meet the following essential criteria:
- Substantive in the role of Firefighter
- In date for all Operational training in line with your current service training policy
- Prepared to accept a contract to work on a Day Crewed or Shift Duty System or, alternatively, join us as part of our Operational Staffing Reserve team
- Have a satisfactory Personal Development Review, Appraisal or equivalent within the last year
- Not be in possession of any formal disciplinary sanctions at the point of application
- Not be subject to any informal or formal development plans within current role at point of application
- Acceptable references received from current Fire and Rescue Service
- Be medically fit to undertake the role of Operational Firefighter
- Full UK driving licence
- Align to the Service’s corporate values (PROTECT)
- Willing to undertake an enhanced (DBS) check
The following criteria are desirable:
- Swift Water Module 2/3
- LGV / ERD driving qualification
Although based at a specific location, the contract of employment will require you to work in any post appropriate to your role at such other place of employment in the Authority's services as may be required.
The posts are conditioned to the Shift/DayCrewed or Operational Staffing Reserve Duty System, in accordance with the Scheme of Conditions of Service. For staff conditioned to the Day CrewedDuty System it will be a contractual requirement to provide accommodation in order to meet the requirements of the role. Accommodation will not be provided by the Service under these circumstances. The starting salary will be Firefighter competent rate of pay£29,934 (plus allowances where appropriate) unless the appointed employee has not yet been deemed competent in role then the rate of pay will be Firefighter Development rate £23,394 (plus allowances where appropriate.)
You will be required to attend training courses and meetings appropriate to the responsibilities and skills associated with your role. From time to time, this will necessitate a change of duty. Annual leave, which would preclude you from attending, will not be approved following notification of the course/meeting date. In exceptional circumstances, dispensation may be granted by your Group Manager.
