MOUNT OLIVE BAPTIST CHURCH

FAMILY LIFE MINISTRY

The Family Life Ministry is a concept that mirrors Christ’s walk with his twelve disciples. Each disciple: Andrew, Bartholomew, James Zebedee, James Aphaeus, John, Mathias, Matthew, Peter, Phillip, Simon, Thaddeus, and Thomas administered to the needs of God’s people on a very basic level which enabled Christ to realize the visions placed upon him.

A fundamental vision for the Mount Olive Baptist Church congregation is to move from Membership to Discipleship. We have been challenged to incorporate this vision internally within our congregation--with an ultimate vision of expansion to our communities and surrounding neighborhoods. Our message: “Each One-Reach One” and bring them to Christ.

To prepare to meet our challenge spiritually and educationally requires that: we first learn about our Father (1 John 3:1-2); we fear God (Exodus 18:21-27); we love the Lord thy God with all our heart (Deuteronomy 6:4-9); exhibit Christ-like characteristics (feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, take in the stranger, clothe the naked, visit the sick and those in prisons [Matthew 25: 31-46]); and that we remember the suffering and sacrifices made by Christ (1 Peter 5:1-9, 2 Corinthians 6:16-18).

The Family Life Ministry is structured to assist our Pastor in reaching each church member on a personal level. There are standard committees within each of the Ministries to assist in this endeavor to include the: Communication Committee which establishes a communicative link with each member for the purpose of obtaining information relating to personal or family illnesses and death(s). This committee also communicates appropriate information from the pulpit on various programs and church related activities such as meetings and special church services. The Outreach Committee focuses on hospital, nursing home, and home visitations. This committee also ensures that request(s) for in-home Holy Communion by visiting deacons and deaconess is communicated and scheduled in a timely fashion. The Program Committee coordinates and organizes persons within the family for participation in church programs and services. Finally, the Welcome Committee welcomes new members to the family and monitors progression through various educational opportunities inclusive of discipleship training.

On behalf of each of the family leaders and family members, we would like to welcome you. We look forward to incorporating your gifts and talents into our families and this branch of Zion, the Mount Olive Baptist Church.
