Good afternoon all,

First of all, let me thank you for your affiliation with this training center. We have endured several changes over the last year and I appreciate your patience with us while we have worked hard to organize our files in preparation of the new certification period. Certifications for ALL NGTC Training Center Instructors, regardless of discipline, will expire on June 30th of 2013. There are a few things you are required to do in order to renew your status as an AHA instructor. Failure to complete all of these requirements could result in your having to take the entire instructor course again. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have met these requirements before June 30, 2013. There will be NO GRACE PERIOD and NO EXCEPTIONS. These requirements are set by the American Heart Association and they will be carried out by this training center.

Certification Period (July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2013)

·  You are not required to attend updates this year. However, I strongly recommend you visit the AHA Instructor Network and read through the 2012 Program Administration Manual (PAM) updated October 22, 2012 and effective February 1, 2013. There have been several changes.

·  Earn 4 credits by doing any combination of the following: You must teach four classroom provider courses or provider updates or renewals in each discipline within each certification period OR conduct skills practice and testing sessions for eLearning courses. Each day of skills practice and testing sessions counts as 1 of the required 4 courses; all 4 credits can be earned this way.

·  You must be monitored in each discipline within each certification period. I have attached a form for your convenience.

·  Once you have met the above requirements, please fill out the attached form for each instructor and send $6.00 for each instructor card requested to the address below. (There is no charge for TCF certificates/cards) *Your instructor card will be mailed to the address listed on the form or if you are affiliated with one of our Training Sites, I will send your card to the TS Coordinator.

Refer to PAMpg. 54 for more details on instructor renewal criteria.

Changes for new certification and some things to remember:

·  Price increase on cards will be effective July 1, 2013. The following will reflect the new prices:

o  All Heartsaver Cards: $5 ea

o  Health Care Provider Cards (BLS): $5 ea

o  ACLS, PALS and Instructor cards will remain $6 ea

·  Course completion cards will no longer be issued from any AHA TC without a minimum of the TC name and ID.

·  All course completion cards must be issued within 20 business days of course completion. This time frame is from the day of completion to the day the card reaches the individual.

·  If you have the ability to type your rosters or send a separate page with the names typed, please do so. We are still receiving many rosters with illegible writing.

·  You can now email your rosters to me at , or continue to mail it to North Georgia Technical College, Attn: Leslie Foster PO Box 65, Clarkesville, GA 30523. Faxes ARE NOT acceptable according to AHA policy.
