PROWLERS BEAT GATORS FOR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Utilizing a 2 home run, 4 run first inning the Thief River Falls Prowlers defeated the BGMR Gators 5-2 and continued their reign of six consecutive Agassiz Conference Championships.

The Prowlers would jump on the Gators early as Alexa Rogalla would single, Lexi Hout would get a bunt hit and Camryn Schwab would blast a 3 run homer. Kylea Praska would follow Schwab with a home run of her own.

BGMR would get on the board in the sixth when Mariah Christian would double and Carly Mekash would blast a two run home run. The Prowlers however would get an insurance run in the seventh and BGMR could not manage a serious rally in the seventh leading to the Prowler win.

Gator starting pitcher Mekash would make quality pitches but the Prowlers came with their hitting shoes on. Christian would relieve Mekash and went 7 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits while not walking a batter.

Offensively the Gators just could not string any hits together. Jacey Wojchowski continued her hot hitting picking up a pair of hits. Christian also had a nice day offensively picking up 2 hits.

The Gators and Prowlers were suppose to play two games but it was decided before the game that the incoming rain storm would limit the two teams to one game. The game also marked the end of the regular season for the Gators as they wrapped up regular season play with a 14-6 record. BGMR will now turn its attention to Tuesday when the Section 8A playoffs begin. It looks like the Gators will be hosting Red Lake on Tuesday with a 5:00 start time on the schedule. The winner of that game will advance to the double elimination portion of the playoffs with games set for Red Lake Falls next Thursday.

The Gators have shown tremendous progress throughout the year. The new season however starts on Tuesday and it is a season the Gators have been training for. Gator Nation will be needed to help the Gators achieve the goals they have set for themselves.
