SENIORS – A CHECKLIST 2017-2018
ATTENTION SENIORS AND YOUR PARENTS: Post this September – January calendar to help you as you go through the college admissions process.
September
· Access online college applications. Visit Common Application website.
· Link your Common Application to your Family Connection account.
· Fill out a transcript release form.
· Plan to visit schools you are interested in – early fall is a good time.
· Register for the October 28 ACT, if required by college of your choice. Register online at www.act.org.
· Register for the October 7 and/or November 4 SAT Reasoning Test or SAT Subject Tests. Register
online at www.collegeboard.com.
· CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE application is available online for private, nonfederal
student aid funds at some colleges.
· Prospective Division I and Division II athletes – Register online www.ncaaclearinghouse.net.
· Meet with college representatives visiting the high school.
· Request transcripts and letters of recommendation 10 school days prior to deadline.
· Add teacher recommenders to your Family Connection account.
October
· Register for December 9 ACT, if required. Register online at www.act.org.
· Register for December 2 SAT Reasoning Test or SAT Subject Tests, if necessary. Register online at www.collegeboard.com.
· Work on college applications.
· Meet with college representatives visiting the high school.
· Take October 28 ACT and/or October 7 SAT Reasoning Test or SAT Subject Tests, if registered.
· Early Decision/Early Action candidates should complete college applications.
· Plan to attend the North Pittsburgh College Fair on October 9th from 6pm – 8pm at La Roche College.
· Plan to attend College Information Night & Financial Aid Night – October 10th – 6pm – 8pm at NASH.
· Register on line for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
· Check deadline for completing the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE.
November
· Take November 4 SAT Reasoning Test.
· Be in the process of completing college applications.
· Early Decision deadlines are often November 1, November 15, or December 1. Be aware of deadlines.
· Meet with college representatives visiting the high school.
· Check for scholarship information in your Family Connection account.
December
· Request all documents by December 6 to guarantee uploading before winter break.
· Take December 2 SAT Reasoning Test or SAT Subject Tests, if registered.
· Take December 9 ACT, if registered.
· Check for scholarship information in your Family Connection account.
January
· Watch for January college application deadlines.
· Check for scholarship information in your Family Connection account.
· Request a mid-year transcripts if a mid-year report is needed by the colleges to which you have applied.
· Register for AP (Advanced Placement) Exams.
