Engr110Quarterly Course Plan

Quarterly Course Plan – in-class advising session

Motivation: Why should you care?

Your detailed quarterly course plan is important for three simple reasons: it saves you time, trouble, and money.

Your plan is to transfer to a 4-year college. Universities and engineering departments have different transfer requirements. Some are very strict about their requirements, some are more flexible. Some departments will not accept you unless you have completed certain courses, meaning you should do your utmost to get those courses under your belt while you are at Seattle CC.

Often courses can only be taken once a number of prerequisite courses are passed with a minimum grade. For example, in order to take Phys221, you will first have to complete Math151.

All of this requires you to carefully ‘put all your ducks in a row’ for your time at Central.

Process: How to get a detailed quarterly course planfor your time at Central.

We hope to get you there in a four-step process:

1. Prepare for the in-class meeting with our advisor.

2. Participate in the in-class meeting with our advisor.

3. Individual meeting with one of our advisors outside of class (to be finished three weeks before the end of the quarter).

4. Create your quarterly course plan (fill out this document or the onlineeducation plan)

Step 1: What you can do to prepare for the in-class meeting with our advisor.

a. Check out the website for transfer students at the 4-year college of your choice. The link for for the UW transfer page is on our course calendar.

b. Check out the engineering courses at Central (link on website). Pay particular attention to WHEN they are offered (often only ONCE a year).

c. Check out the other links on the website (AS-T Option 2 form, Annual Planning Guide, Online Audit Tool, etc.). Purpose: familiarize yourself with what is there and write down questions.

d. Try to fill out the quarterly course plan on the next page as best you can and – very important – write down any questions that come up.
