PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

Precision Micro-Machining Center – The University of Toledo (January 2000 – Present)

PMMC is an integrated industry-academia manufacturing research center with twenty U.S. and five international member companies. Abrasive Micro-Machining Consortium manages the PMMC.

Chief Engineer, reporting to Director of PMMC

Technical Secretary of Abrasive Micro-Machining Consortium

·  Investigate the Micro-Machining Manufacturing Processes with focus on Hard Turning, Burnishing and Grinding including Electrolytic in-Process Dressing (ELID) technique.

·  Complete a joint industrial project titled “Interrupted and Continuous Hard Turning” patronized by Diamond Abrasives Corporation, Dana Corporation, and Tecumseh Products Company. The major objectives were to analyze the wear of cutting inserts and surface quality, and to determine the optimum cutting regime based on a model that predicts the surface roughness.

·  Investigate CBN Grinding Wheels Wear at Oak Ridge National Laboratory

·  Investigate ELID grinding technology. Collaborate with Japanese company to tune up CNC surface grinding machine Thompson.

·  Technical co-operation and consulting with: Diamond Abrasives Corporation, Dana Co., Tecumseh Products Co., CITCO Operations, Master Chemical Co., ACME Co., Valenite Inc., and Kennametal.

·  Supervise and advise graduate students to successfully complete their Master Project or Thesis. Main translator and editor of the “Handbook of Machine Tool Analysis”, authors Marinescu,I., Ispas, C., and Boboc, D., Editor: Marcel Dekker.

·  Work as team member for Technology Action Fund Proposal 2002.

·  Access granted to Ohio Supercomputer Center through successful proposal.

·  Teach classes of Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Engineering, and Material Science for undergraduate and graduate level.

·  Attended numerous seminars specialized on manufacturing processes: manufacturing and use of superabrasives, manufacturing and use of coolants, etc.

·  Work for PhD dissertation with preliminary title “Cutting Tool Wear, Surface Quality Analysis, and Chip Formation for Continuous and Interrupted Hard Turning”.

Self Managed Company «Monitorul Oficial», Romania (Aug. 1995 – Dec. 1999)

Editing and printing house of the Romanian Government official publications.

Mechanical Engineer position in Development and Investments Department
