Parks & Recreation Department

Job Title:Recreation Specialist – Facility

Pay Range:$10.00 - $12.50

General Description:This is a non-exempt position in the Parks and Recreation Department. The position will assist in all day-to-day operations including: Recreation Center business, Conference Center rentals, membership processing, marketing, office organization, facility security and any other operations dealing with Parks and Recreation and Town Center

Reports to:Office Coordinator

Essential Functions:

  • Manage facility supervisors up to and including scheduling, accountability and performance
  • Oversee all part-time recreation staff
  • Supervise procedures regarding the handling of money, memberships and organization of the recreation center front desk
  • Help prepare marketing materials including graphics and fliers for programs throughout the department
  • Alert proper personnel of repair and maintenance issues thru Hippo (Maintenance software)
  • Serve as resource for issues involving cable service from Cox Communications
  • Supervise all cash and systems controls to ensure safekeeping of assets
  • Oversee and enforce the membership process and membership policies
  • Book and assist with room rental reservations
  • Oversee scheduling of Parks and Recreation staff as well as approving trades and time off
  • Assist with hiring and training of new rec center staff
  • Be proficient in the operation of all built-in and portable audio/visual equipment in the rental facilities
  • Set a standard of excellence in customer service as an example for staff
  • Serve as backup supervisor, filling in shifts when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to work well with the public and communicate clearly and accurately
  • Strong organizational skills and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written word
  • Computer software skills
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal with both external and internal contacts while working cooperatively with other staff

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily indoors, subject to sitting, standing, walking and/or working on the phone/computer for extended amounts of time
  • Must be able to work from 30-38 hour per week
  • Must be able to lift upwards of 20 lbs
  • Must be able to work with frequent interruptions
  • Must be able to tactfully handle citizens and members
  • Work from time to time including early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed
  • May occasionally receive after-hours phone calls requiring problem solving
