Attached is a list of the available classes for After School Activities Winter/Spring 2016. The Winter/SpringSession will begin the week of October 23, 2017 for 8 weeks (unless otherwise noted)and all classes run from 3-4PM.
The procedure for sign up is as follows:
*Choose the class(es) in which your child(ren) would like to participate, fill out the attached sign up form, sign the attached permission slip and return to school with your payment(please make out checks to Truro After School Activities ). Children will not be permitted to stay for the first class if payment has not been received. Financial assistance is available upon request.

CAPOEIRA INSTRUCTOR: ANDRE LIMA
GRADES: K-5
Capoeirais a fantastic opportunity for kids to be exposed to a unique blend ofmartial arts, music, culture and camaraderie.Capoeira involves movement utilizing the entire body developingstrength,coordinationandflexibility. Kids also get a chance toplaytraditional Capoeira instruments and learn tosingtraditional Capoeira songs inPortuguese.
Children of all ages can benefit from the fun and friendly atmosphere that not onlyprovides a challengingaerobicandacrobaticworkout, but also helps kids develop theirconfidenceandself esteem."
Andre Lima has being practicing CAPOEIRA for fourteen years under the super vison of Master Kinha from Capoeira Besouro Hawaii. He is the founder of Capoeira Besouro Cape Cod teaching after school programs for three years.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!!INSTRUCTORS: DEB RAYMOND AND ELIZA HARNED
GRADES: 3-5
The Video Journalism Club is for students grades 3-5 interested in being part of creating The Truro Times, a twice monthly news program about Truro Central School to be aired on Channel 22, The Lower Cape Access channel. Students will write, produce, operate a video camera and serve as anchors for the broadcast.

IMPROVISATION GAMES
GRADES: 1-5
This after school activity is all about working together as a group and having fun on stage. We will be playing improv games and practice being confident in front of an audience. This is the place to be if you love playing creative games and want to leran how to work well with a group. Join the fun!!

RECYCLABLE ARTINSTRUCTOR: EDIN COOK WITH CASTLE HILL
GRADES 3-5
Students in this visual-art based class will learn about ways they can transform waste into art. Students will create handmade sketchbooks from recycled paper,drift wooddisplays decoratedwith ocean debris, collages from old magazines, and temporary sculptures using gathered Swap Shack discards. Students will discuss howwaste influences our delicate Cape Cod landscape and waysthey can be moreconscious creative citizens. Through teaching a variety of art practicesthiscourse will emphasize the vulnerability of our changing climate and the possibilities of using alternative art materials to create funky masterpieces!

Students will have the opportunity to play rhythms, melodies, and songs together on the xylophones and ukuleles.

YOGAINSTRUCTOR: GENEVIEVE MORIN
GRADES: K-3
Local yoga instructor, Genevieve Morin, brings her practice to kids in a creative, fun afterschool program. One of the primary benefits of Genevieve’s program will be teaching kids a range of tools they will be able to use throughout their lives. Breathing and visualization techniques help kids with focus, relaxation, mindfulness and self-control.Yoga can also be a very playful practice when approached with creativity. This class will build on those abilities by incorporating the Yoga Teddy Bear book. Having kids access their imagination by moving their bodies to mimic the look, feel or essence of an enormous variety of animals, insects, plants, objects and sages of the ages. The wider benefits of this program are the potential to stimulate and build inner-strength, confidence, self-esteem and a feeling of well-being and respect for others.
