This will include working some unsociable hours including evenings and weekends for events.

Experience/Qualifications Required: / Demonstrable experience within a Community Engagement role is essential.
A qualification within Community Education, Social and Health Sciences would be desirable.

Job Purpose

PKAVS has an exciting opportunity for a Community Engagement Worker to join a multi-agency Community Engagement Team supporting the Health and Social Care Integration agenda in Perth and Kinross.

This post is required to help the Health and Social Care Partnership improve outcomes for local communities and increase co-production of health and social care services with these communities.

You will join a team of Community Engagement Workers employed by PKAVS and managed jointly by Perth and Kinross Council and PKAVS Third Sector and Volunteering Hub.

The key responsibilities of the Community Engagement Team are to raise awareness of Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Integration, establish local connections and stimulate interest within local communities to become involved in shaping local solutions around health and social care priorities and identified areas of inequality. This will include organising community events and supporting locality- based staff and organisations to take forward new community-led local initiatives.

You will develop strong networks and links between community groups, organisations and service users, co-ordinate engagement activities and develop and implement local participation and engagement plans working with health and social care managers.

Excellent organisational and written skills are an essential element of this role.

You must be a people focused person, self-motivated and a good communicator, with a proven track record of establishing strong professional working relationships, at all levels.

A driving licence and the use of your own transportation is an essential requirement as there may be a requirement to work within rural locations throughout Perth and Kinross.

Objectives

·  Develop opportunities that enable members of local communities to contribute to the planning and delivery of health and community services.

·  Work with communities to improve and build on initiatives that support resilience and self-reliance at the local level.

·  To provide support to Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership in engagement and consultation with communities and service users.

·  Stimulate creative dialogue to offer the opportunity for local people, people who use services, carers and practitioners to explore new ways to support people to age well.

·  Develop an evaluation framework for community engagement that provides clear evidence of outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

·  To implement the Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Participation and Engagement Strategy, linking closely with other strategies such as Communication, and the strategies and plans of PKAVS Third Sector and Volunteering Hubs.

·  To co-produce and co-deliver locality-focused Participation and Engagement plans with local communities and key partners from the Voluntary Sector, Local Authority and NHS.

·  To gather community and service user information for each area to help contribute to community profiles.

·  To be responsible for the promotion and organisation of local community engagement and listening events relevant to local health and social care services.

·  To support and contribute to local information databases including MILO and the development of Well Connected (ALISS).

·  To work with local community members and group, enabling them to determine how they want to relate to local health and social care decision-making structure.

·  Support communities to develop their own local services for in their community.

·  Ensure that the Community Engagement Team and key community partners are provided with pertinent, relevant and timely information relating to Health and Social Care activities information through supporting the development and distribution of newsletters/ communications.

·  Maintain monitoring information, and write reports when required.

·  To assist with the development of local community action plans.

Location of Work: / This post will be based at The Gateway, North Methven Street, Perth PH1 5PP or other sites/services as required by the organisation which may include rural locations throughout Perth and Kinross.
Responsible To: / Team Leader Community Capacity Building, Perth and Kinross Council.
Probation: / This post carries a 6 month probationary period.
Induction: / A planned Induction Programme will be offered together with relevant job specific training.
Offer of Employment: / An offer of appointment will be made subject to two satisfactory references.
Support and Supervision: / The post holder will receive regular support and supervision from Team Leader Community Capacity Building, Perth and Kinross Council.
Holidays: / PKAVS determines annual leave entitlement in hours and not days to ensure equity for all employees by ensuring that staff who work variable hours/shifts do not receive either more or less leave than colleagues who work a standard shift pattern.
On appointment – 238 hours
Equivalent to 34 days
(26 days annual leave and 8 public holidays.
After 2 years – 252 hours
Equivalent to 36 days
(28 days annual leave and 8 public holidays)
After 3 years – 273 hours
Equivalent to 39 days
(31 days annual leave and 8 public holidays)
Please note that annual leave hours stated above are based on you working full-time. This will be calculated on a pro rata basis for part time staff.
