Advisory for the farmers

Crops / Phenophases / Advisory (Based on weather forecast)
- / - / During rainy season, there is an abundance of grasses and sedges in the bunds of the field, which tends to enhance the abundance of insect and pests, which lay eggs in the grass. Such condition gives rise to the incidence of pests and diseases in the standing crops. For control of such grasses, application of Glyphosate 41% SL @10-15 ml/liter of clean water is advised under sunny day condition. It is advised that application of this herbicide should not be made in standing crops. Cleaning of spraying machines is also advised after the application of this herbicide.
Rabi crops / Land preparation / Land preparation is advised for rabi crop such as lentil, pea, garlic, coriander, mustard, sunflower, rajma and methi. Application of well decomposed FYM@150-200 quintal/ha is advised, It increases the water use efficiency as well as nutrient quantity in the soil. Ploughing and planking should be done properly to conserve the moisture in the soil.
Rapeseed
(Toria) / Land preparation/Sowing / Land preparation/sowing of rapeseed is advised. Application of 100 quintal compost, 30 kg nitrogen, 40 kg phosphorus, 40 kg potash and 20-30 kg sulpher per hectare is advised during land preparation. Application of 25 kg zinc sulphate/hectare is suggested in zinc deficient land. RAUTS-17, Panchali, PT-303 and Bhawani varieties of rapeseed are recommended for sowing in North Bihar region.
Rice / panicle initiation to dough stage / Monitoring of gundhi bug is advised in paddy crop. Gundhi bug may appear in rice field during flowering to milky stage. It causes appreciable losses to crop during milky stage. Apply Folidol dust@10-15 kg per hectare to control Gundhi bug in rice crop.
Brinjal / Flowering/
Fruiting / Monitoring is advised for infestation of fruit and shoot borer in brinjal. Application of 1.0 gram Carbofuran 3 G per plant is advised near root zone after ten days of planting. If pest population is above ETL (Economic Threshold Level), then spraying of Spinosad 48 EC @1ml/4 liters of water or Quinalphos 25 EC @1.5ml/litre of water are advised. Infested fruits and shoots should be collected and buried before spraying.
Cauliflower / Transplanting/bulb forming / Monitoring of leaf eating caterpillar is advised in early sown cauliflower. If infestation occurs, spraying of Spinosad 48 EC @ 1ml/4 litres of water is advised to protect the crop.
Vegetables / - / ·  Farmers are advised to monitor their fields regularly. Spraying of g/10 liters of water is advised against white fly and other sucking pest infestation in vegetables.
·  Weeding is also advised in vegetables such as chilli, cauliflower, brinjal, kharif onion, bhindi, pumpkin, sponge guard and cucumber.
