The Eco Niche Shines!

What’s that shining in the sunlight over in the Eco Niche? It’s the copper post caps on the newly finished rail fence! Council thanks David Albin and his family, Gina DiGregorio (former RRPS teacher) and Peter Jenkins profusely for giving up their Saturday to help put up the fence.

Council would also like to thank David Sokoloff for his donation to the school of a cordless hedge trimmer. Look for our hedges’ new haircut!

Parents and students can help us make the Eco Niche thrive by staying on the path only and by protecting all of the plants by looking and not touching. With a little help, the Eco Niche can become a wonderful natural outdoor classroom for the entire school to enjoy!

Family Fun & Fitness Nights

Our first session of Family Fun & Fitness is now over. What a great way to have fun and keep fit with your whole family! We learned how to do the Cha Cha, Merengue, Salsa, and even Hip Hop!

We will be continuing these Fun & Fitness Nights next September. Look for the flyers to go home at the beginning of the new school year. Remember, classes are offered at cost and usually run on

Thursday evenings in the Richmond Rose Gym. The whole family is invited!

Dominion Save-A-Tape

Thank you to everyone who participates in our Dominion Save-a-Tape Program! Please keep on saving Dominion cash register receipts for us over the summer. The deadline for submitting the receipts is Monday, October 2, 2006. Please put your cash register tapes in the specially marked bin just inside the front doors. For every $450 worth of tapes we collect, Dominion gives us $1 to spend on school equipment and supplies. Many thanks go to Silvana Tesic for handling the sorting of thousands of cash register receipts that are handed in! Last year, we received over $160 for our school!

BMO Grant Received!

Our gratitude goes out to the Bank of Montreal for their generous grant to School Council of $2,250! The money will purchase a new Smart Board technology package for our school for use by all classes. Thank you, BMO! We really appreciate it!

Praise for Pizza Parents

Thank you to all of our hardworking Pizza Parents! These people volunteer their time every week to sort and deliver pizza lunches to our students. Thank you to Anna Tsui, Diane Williams, Shirley Leung, Pat Choi, Dorothy Cheng, Monna Yip, Christine Sokoloff, Aalia Molu, Sue Yung, and Shalini Bhatla.

Farewell and Good Luck!

The School Council congratulates all of our 2006 RRPS graduates and wishes them the best of luck in secondary school! Council also sends best wishes to those families and students who are leaving the Richmond Rose community. Best of luck to Diana Dal Bello and all of the teachers who will be leaving us as well! Have a wonderful summer, everyone!
