Commission on Civic and Character Education

Grant Application

The Commission issues grants to teachers, schools, community organizations or other entities to encourage and support a variety of activities which promote civic engagement, character development, and service learning in youth, families and communities. Grants range from $100 to $5,000 and although matching funds are not required, larger requests will be evaluated based on matching funds or other partnerships available. The Commission is currently soliciting grant requests solely for projects which provide students hands-on experiences through field trips to the State Capitol, Matheson Courthouse, This is the Place State Heritage Park, or Junior Achievement (SLC).Tours of the State Courts are an alternative for those not on the Wasatch Front and can be arranged by completing the form at this website: It is recommended that you combine visits if possible, such as a visit to the State Capitol in the morning and the Courthouse in the afternoon. Field trip requests will be considered on a monthly basis.

Applications can be submitted via a word document (or pdf) and must include the following (there is no standard “form”):
