Dr. Fry Presentation – Nov. 10, 2016

Dr. Stephen Fry has been practicing primary care for 20 years in North Scottsdale. His main professional interest has been the cause and treatment of chronic inflammatory disease such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and Fibromyalgia.

He doesn’t believe this is a viral problem, but a problem caused by a pathogen (bacteria, fungi, parasite). The pathogen sticks to the wall of a blood vessel and covers itself with a biofilm that protects it from our immune systems. He showed many slides of biofilms and pathogens he has found in blood samples. Fry Laboratories does the testing.

He uses Next Generation DNA Sequencing to check for 36 million entries – in other words, he tests your blood and looks for the DNA of known pathogens. I believe he said a pathogen can have several entries – the bottom line is he’s testing for a lot of pathogens. I don’t know what this costs. The machine he uses is a PAC Bio System.

He referred us to an article in the Townsend Letter, “DNA Sequencing”. I think Dr Fry wrote the article.

He treats with biofilm busters to expose the pathogens -- he prefers Boluoke® Lumbrokinase to nattokinase or serrapeptase. You may experience a Herxheimer reaction when the pathogens are released from their biofilm so start slow. You can build up to 10 capsules a day. You can order this supplement online without a prescription.

Along with Lumbrokinase he prescribes antibiotics (doxycycline, etc.) to kill the pathogens as they are released from the biofilm. He uses anti-fungals as needed.

Diet: Pathogens feed on meat (including fish), fats (including fish oil), and lipids. To starve the pathogen you should avoid all of these. We can get enough protein from other sources – think paleo diet – for example, rice and beans. He recommends reading the book, The China Study, by Dr. Campbell.

He finds most CFS and FMS patients have up-regulated levels of cytokines, particularly IL-13, IL-17, TGF-beta, and NGF.

Increased CRP levels in your blood are due to inflammation, and can lead to vascular disease.

Heart failure is the #1 cause of death inpatients with CFS.

He recommended some TNF inhibitors: Curcumin 2 – 4 gms daily. Side note: curcumin has been shown to shrink cancer tumors.

Interesting tidbit: You can test your probiotics supplements by emptying the contents of a capsule into a pan of milk. Put it in the oven on a low setting (like an incubator), turn off the oven and leave it overnight. If the supplement contains live cultures, it will grow – you will see something in the pan of milk that looks like cottage cheese.

He covered a lot of info at a fast pace. He mentioned the work eukaryotes (some type of parasite) several times. I need to look that up.
