Constitution and Bylaws
Of the
Ohio Association of FHA/FCCLA Alumni & Associates
Article I Name and Purposes
Section A The name of the organization shall be the
Ohio Association of FHA/FCCLA Alumni & Associates.
Section B The purposes for which this organization exists shall be:
1. To support, promote and serve Family, Career & Community Leaders of
America and Family and Consumer Science education on the local, state,
And national levels;
2. To reunite former members of Ohio FHA/FCCLA and
other individuals interested in promoting Family & Consumer Science Education;
3. To provide financial support for the FCCLA youth organization and the
FHA/FCCLA alumni and associates;
4. To promote the FCCLA as a youth organization which provides
Leadership for the future of America;
5. To allow continued involvement in FHA/FCCLA and Family & Consumer
Science activities and the promotion of greater knowledge of FCS Education.
Article II Membership
Section A Membership shall be open to all past members of the Ohio FHA/FCCLA,
Present and former FCS and Career Tech related educators, parents, past
National, state, and local officers, honorary Ohio FHA/FCCLA members, collegiate
And career/business persons, and all other interested persons;
1. Advisers. Current or former FHA/FCCLA chapter advisers who wish to continue
Their support in furthering the purposes of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America
and this organization.
2. Individuals from community and community organizations.
3. Corporate, profitable organizations, business, and corporations that wish to support
The development of America’s youth through Family, Career & Community Leaders of America.
4. Associate Membership. Associate membership is available for those who are not
Former members, but wish to support and contribute to the organization.
5. Members may join at the National level, in addition to the State level.
6. Active members are those individuals who have paid state dues for the current year or who are paid associate members.
7. Members who have not paid their dues within 60 days of the start of the organization’s fiscal year will be dropped from the membership rolls.
Article III Executive Body
Section A The executive body of the Ohio Association of FHA/FCCLA Alumni & Associates
Shall be the Ohio FHA/FCCLA Alumni & Associates Council.
They shall be: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President of Merchandising/Promotion and FCCLA State Adviser;
Article IV Dues, Fiscal Year, Audit, Budget
Section A The amount of dues for all members shall be recommended by the alumni council and fixed by a majority vote of members present at the annual meeting.
1. Annual membership will be $10.00.
2. Life time membership will be $100.00.
3. Renewal is January 1 of that year.
Section B The fiscal year of this organization shall commence on the first day of January each
Year and shall end on the 31st day of December of the following year.
Section C Books and records of the Ohio FHA/FCCLA Alumni & Associates Association may be
inspected by any member or his agent at any reasonable time.
An audit of the financial statements shall be conducted at the discretion of the alumni council.
Section D The budget shall be developed by the alumni council.
Article V Meetings
Section A The Ohio FHA/FCCLA Alumni & Associates shall meet at least once per year. Additional
Meetings may be called by the President or a majority of the council members upon
petitioning the secretary.
Article VI Location of principal office
Section A The principal office of the Ohio FHA/FCCLA Alumni & Associates Association shall be determined by the Ohio FHA/FCCLA alumni council.
1. Location of the September council meeting shall determine the said meeting of the alumni council.
2. File of the legal documents/money, for the ease of banking, shall be at the location of
the current treasurer.
Article VII Amendments
Section A Proposed amendments to the constitution of the Ohio FHA/FCCLA Alumni & Associates Association may be submitted by a local affiliate or by any active member, and must be in writing and received by the secretary sixty days prior to the April, State Leadership Conference.
Article VIII Procedure for electing state officers
Section A Officers shall be elected at large every two years at the April, State Leadership Conference meeting. Officers elected will be: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President of Merchandising/Promotion.
Section B The state officers shall select candidates for the state offices who meet the following qualifications:
1. They shall be an Alumni & Associates dues paying member.
2. They shall be willing to assume the responsibilities of being a state officer.
Section C Anyone not possessing the qualifications or if the position becomes vacated, the position will be filled in the following manner:
1. The state alumni council shall appoint an eligible person to fill the term of the office.
Section D Duties (In addition to the duties listed below, see the document containing a list of all officer duties.)
1. President-It shall be the duty of the state president to preside over the state meetings of the Ohio FHA/FCCLA Alumni & Associates. The president shall call special meetings, appoint all committees and serve on the Ohio FCCLA Board of Directors for a two year term.
2. Vice President-It shall be the duty of the vice president to assist the president, preside at meetings in the absence of the president, and be prepared to assume the duties and responsibilities of the president if the office becomes vacant.
3. Secretary-The duties of the secretary are to keep an accurate record of all meetings of the state alumni executive council. They shall also send copies of the same to each member of the state executive council for their records.
4. Vice President of Merchandising/Promotions-It shall be the duty of this officer to work with the current SEC and State Adviser on a continuous basis regarding items and apparel for uniforms, State T-shirt designs, and sales items for Leadership Conferences. Also, work with the Treasurer and President in compiling orders and pricing of items for sale, as well as work with Design Original and/or other vendors for current availability of styles, colors, and prices.
5. Treasurer-It shall be the duty of the treasurer to keep accurate records of all receipts and disbursements of the organization, collect dues and report to the Board of Directors upon request.
