Grading Policy: Grades will be calculated as follows:

Daily Work: 40% Labs and Activities: 25% Tests and Quizzes: 35%

Missing Assignments: Assignments are YOUR responsibility; therefore you WILL be responsible for completing all work in this class. You can either choose to complete the work on time for full credit, or come after school for reduced credit. This is not an option.

Academic Dishonesty: Cheating, plagiarism, or any type of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated in my class. If you are caught, you will receive a zero for the assignment without the option of recovering the grade, your parents will be contacted, and you will be referred to the office.

Labs and Activities: We will be conducting labs and activities throughout the year. You will be required to sign and turn in a copy of the lab safety contract and pass a lab safety test before being allowed to participate in labs and activities. Unacceptable conduct and unsafe lab practices will not be tolerated and are subject to dismissal from all labs and activities upon the teacher’s discretion.

Criteria for participating in labs:

The following criteria must be met by each student any time a lab is scheduled. If a student does not meet all the criteria, he or she will NOT be permitted to participate in the lab, and will be required to complete an alternative written assignment.

  • No missing work/assignments
  • Must be passing with at least 70%
  • Must be present the day prior to lab if there is a pre-lab exercise

Testing Policy: Prior to every exam in my class, you will be required to surrender your cell phone to me for the duration of the test. You will receive your phone when all students have completed the test. If you refuse to surrender your phone, you will be required to take the test with Mr. Paschall in his office.

Class Rules:

  1. Be on time and prepared.
  2. Show respect.
  3. Sit in your assigned seat daily.
  4. Observe all rules in the student handbook.

Class Procedures:

  1. Follow all class rules at all times. The rules are posted on the bulleting board at the front of the class.

  3. Paper and pencil need to be out and ready before class begins.
  4. Be in your seat and ready to begin when the tardy bell rings. Not in your seat when bell rings = tardy, which = demerit.
