Boys Scouts of America Announces New Event and Silent Auction Touting American Values and Patriotism
Cincinnati, OH, May 1st, 2017 – Amid all the excitement an organization can muster, the Dan Beard Council’s Hopewell District (Warren County) has announced a new fundraising event and silent auction promoting American values and patriotism. The event promises to be a thriller given it’s hosted at the Jaguar Land Rover showroom. Attendees will be treated to a professionally driven circuit adventure of the Land Rover test track, along with a view of meticulously restored vintage Jaguar vehicles.
Boy Scouts Are Inclusive
Speaking about the event and its significance, Rhett Woerner, Event Chair and Eagle Scout himself said, “Preparing America’s Patriots recognizes individuals in our communities of outstanding character or those who embody the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives”. The Scout oath talks about serving God and Country, while the law states that, A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. “In our present environment, we most certainly need youth development programs that emphasize these values. The Boy Scouts of America is unique with this approach to youth development. Not only does it deliver a best in class program, but the deployment of the program, through various agencies and organizations, make it a truly all-inclusive program – including at risk and developmentally disadvantaged boys” Mr. Woerner continued. “After all, if the Boy Scouts fail to help groom the next generation of America’s leaders and patriots, who would fill that void?”
A Grassroots Effort
The fundraiser aims to raise $25,000 to support Scouting in Warren County. Warren County currently serves 2,500 Scouting youth and, last year alone, produced 52 Eagle Scouts – Scouting’s highest rank. Over 14,000 hours of community service were logged by more than 500 caring adult volunteers according to the Dan Beard Council. “Even after 107 years, since the founding of the Boy Scouts of America, the time-tested values of character development, citizenship training and personal fitness remain relevant today. The age appropriate and grade specific programs focus on mentoring, service to others, lifelong learning, healthy living, and faith traditions”, said John Ralbovsky, one of two Scouting Professionals that serve the County.
Featured at the event will be Keynote Speaker, Jonathan Sanchez of Team Performance Institute. Sanchez is a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams. He is a noted speaker on team development, leadership, innovation, patriotism, overcoming adversity, and the power of service. Serving as emcee, for the evening, will be our very own Cincinnati area Emmy award winning journalist, Jenell Walton.
Host & Silent Auction
Hosting the event is Mr. Ed Neyra, owner of Neyra Industries which includes the Jaguar Land Rover dealership. Mr. Neyra, himself, has a compelling American dream story, having arrived in the United States from Cuba as a refugee. Notable sponsors thus far include AT&T and Interlink Cloud Advisors.
A silent auction with gifted items from former Bengal, Robert Jackson (an autographed Bengals football and Club Level seats to the next Bengals / Steelers home game), original museum quality artwork and numerous other items top off the event, including a “Drive the Dream” weekend package that includes a Jaguar or Land Rover, hotel accommodations at Marriott’s AC Hotel and dinner for two.
