Job description

This role will manage and participate in the design, development, implementation and assessment of contemporary learning and development activities and initiatives to improve the capabilities and performance of AUSTRAC’s workforce in supporting the achievement of the Strategic Plan, the Professional Leadership and Career Development Strategy and other relevant plans.

The Manager, Learning and Development under broad direction from the Director, is responsible for:

  • the development and implementation of innovative and high quality learning and development solutions which support AUSTRAC’s direction, including:
  • consultation and collaboration with management to assist in the implementation of learning and development programs
  • identification of timely and appropriate learning and development activities – including some delivery if needed
  • providing coaching and assistance to subject matter experts to enable them to implement effective learning and development solutions for their relevant business areas
  • provision of high quality advice on learning and development needs and solutions (e.g. training needs analysis)
  • reporting on investment and return on investment from learning and development initiatives
  • development of relevant policies and procedures
  • applying contemporary knowledge of issues, trends and best practice to champion effective and high quality learning and development within the agency
  • building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and key external stakeholders, such as the Australian Public Service Commission and other APS agencies
  • working closely with the HR teams to ensure learning and development activities are integrated into the agency’s people management strategies (e.g. recruitment, performance management).
  • planning, managing and coordinating learning and development activities including the:
  • maintenance of data
  • development and maintenance of agency-wide information, and
  • supervision of relevant staff.
