CONGRATULATIONS TO:

School Board Director Michael Hartlinefor being appointed to PSBA's Legislative Platform Committee. Mr. Hartline will represent Region 11 in Mechanicsburg, when the Committee meets in August of this year. The Committee'srecommended platformwill be voted on at the PSBA/PASA School Leadership Conference in October.

McDonald-Davis Elementary Student Council for raising a total of $813.95 through the 3rdAnnual Penny Challenge. The proceeds will support the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk, which Ms.AmyVenner, teacher at McDonald-Davis, will be participating in October.

Amanda Acklin, Angela Leamon, Steven Rimdzius,and Gabrielle Smith of McDonald-Davis Elementary School for recently participating in the BuxMont Children’s Choral Festival sponsored by the Pennsylvania Youth Chorale. The daylong event included learning various choral selections, and performing them with students from other Bucks and Montgomery County schools.

Centennial School District for participating in the 19th Annual Bucks County Reading Olympics Competition. Centennial was well represented with 19 teams and close to 300 dedicated students. Thanks to the many teachers who volunteered their time to make this year another successful showing for Centennial.

Log College Middle School Serial Readers who won a blue ribbon at the Reading Olympics held on March 28 at Strayer Middle School.

Klinger Middle School Reading Olympics teams, The Magic Reading Monkeys, The Book Monsters, and The Book Worms. They had an impressive showing at the Bucks County Regional Reading Olympics Celebration held recently at Strayer Middle School in Quakertown. The three teams walked away with two blue ribbons and one red ribbon. Special thanks, as well, to coaches MeganLondon, Tracy Laverty, and George Fischer as well as teachers Laura Brannen, DianeStevens, and nurse Sarah Hobensack for volunteering at the event. The teams are already looking forward to next year!

Klinger Middle School students who donated approximately 3,138 non-perishable food items for the Builders Club/Operation Helping Hand food drive.

The following William Tennent Art Studentsfor participating in the 17th Annual Bucks County High School Art Exhibition:Katherine Martin, Kevin Kilkenny, Samantha Laub, Micheala Struck, DevonChapelle, Anthony Sloma, James Harper, Viktoria Lancers, KristenNisula, PaulaBridgewater, Paige Avery-Lawyer, Veronica Jazz Penta, Christy Ni, and Cheolsoo Lee. Their work was recently on display at the Hicks Art Center Gallery at Bucks County Community College.

Philip Vinogradov, a teacher at William Tennent High School, who has been asked to facilitate two sessions at the second annual Girls in Focus with Technology (GIFT) Conference on May 16, 2012, at the Bucks County Schools Intermediate Unit 22. GIFT is designed for middle school to high school girls to embrace knowledge in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).In exchange for Philip’s time, twenty aspiring young STEM students from WilliamTennent High School can now attend the conference.

William Tennent High School Key Club memberswho attended the Key Club District Conference Leadership Convention in State College, where the club officers were recognized and received awards.The following Key Club officers were recognized and awarded the Distinguished Officer Award:Connie Suh, President, Rebecca Lapsley, VicePresident, Megan Williams, Secretary, JacobChaffee, Treasurer, and KathrynSokolowski, Webmaster/Historian/Editor.

The following William Tennent High School German language students: JustinCammarota,JosephCunningham, Frances Fahrety, Kyle Heim, Shannon Kelley, RyanKlinger, Kayla Murphy, Thomas Reimenschneider, Mark Schafer, Ashley Schultz, Maria Smirnova, and Matt Wylandfor competing against ten other schools at the recent Delaware Valley Deutschfest.These students took 3rd place in several categories,such as the creation of a school banner, 2nd place in a board game, and 1st place in the Hindernislauf. In addition, three students were elected as officers for the next Deutschfest.

William Tennent High School Boys’ Swim Teamfor posting incredible results in the PIAA State Championships.Recognition goes to: Ian Forlinifor finishing 3rd in diving, ConnorForlinifor finishing 6th in the 500 freestyle and breaking the school record, and the 200 freestylerelay team of Connor Forlini, Andrew Richey, Brennen Bastini, and DylanCooper who finished 15th overall and beat the school record. All participants earned All-State Honors, and ConnorForlini and Ian Forlini also earned All-American Honors with their results.
