Target Audience

This program has been planned for Sandhills Center staff and providers who document mental health and substance abuse services.

Program Description

This workshop is designed to teach mental health and substance abuse critical documentation skills which can improve both service delivery and client outcomes. Attendance does not guarantee “perfect” audits.Participants will receive an overview of the publically funded system and how it relates to clinical service documentation; ensure that documentation appropriately supports service definition requirements and medical necessity; identify key components in the treatment planning process and how to incorporate evidenced based treatment interventions into service documentation; and practice documenting therapeutic/billable service activities.

Speaker

Lisa Bunting Bradley, MSW, LCSW received her BA from Potsdam College, and her MSW from the University of Michigan. She worked over twelve years as a Clinical Social Worker, and has been a trainer for the NC Dept. of Health & Human Services, MH/DD/SAS, and many other agencies. She currently develops trainings, conducts audits, and consults for her firm, Impact Training & Consulting, LLC.

This event is presented by Southern Regional AHEC for the Sandhills Center MCO and registration is limited to their staff and providers. Space is limited.

Credits

0.6 CEUs and 6.0 Contact Hourscredit will be awarded to participants who attend 100% of the program. Southern Regional AHEC adheres to NAADAC Education Provider Guidelines Provider #843 (Substance Abuse Credit). This program does not provide specific NBCC Credits. However, per LPC licensure guidelines, you may submit up to 15 contact hours of continuing education by attending programs by affiliates of the National Area Health Education Center Education (NAO). SR-AHEC is a member of the NAO.

No partial credit will be given. Individuals arriving 15 minutes or more after the starting time will not receive credit.

Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program participants should be able to:

  • Review and discuss the publically funded system and how it relates to clinical service documentation;
  • Describe how to ensure that documentation appropriately supports service definition requirements and medical necessity;
  • Identify key components in the treatment planning process and how to incorporate evidenced based treatment interventions into service documentation; and
  • Describe how to document therapeutic/billable service activities.
