Purpose of job
To lead on the development and management of the Online Today! project in Scotland ensuring service impact, reach, return on investment and long term sustainability.
Online Today! aims to reach, engage and empower people with sensory loss who are digitally excluded and marginalised from mainstream services to develop the online skills and confidence they need to get and stay online. Working with UK and country level partners from voluntary, public and private sectors Online Today! will reach out to motivate, advise and train people, and share learning to change practice and influence policy at local and national levels.

Financial responsibility:
To ensure the effective financial management of the Scotland “Online Today!” budget.
Decision making responsibility:
To ensure that the Scotland “Online Today!” project achieves its outcomes on time and in budget.
Main accountabilities:
1. To develop and maintain partnerships with key statutory, third sector and private organisations to maximise the impact and reach of the service, to mainstream service delivery and ensure sustainability at the end of project funding
2. To provide specialist advice and guidance, within RNIB Scotland and the wider RNIB group on the Online Today! project in Scotland.
3. To develop and ensure the effective management of a robust volunteering model to support the service and future sustainability across Scotland, to maximise their performance and to ensure that health and safety and safeguarding responsibilities are met.
4. To develop and disseminate good practice guidance and training to enable blind and partially sighted people across Scotland develop basic online skills.
5. To ensure that literature is developed in accessible formats on the Digital Inclusion opportunities available the benefits of ICT and types of products available.
6. To organise and attend regular project partnership meetings, providing regular progress reports to the project lead in RNIB.
7. To implement an outcome monitoring system, providing robust information for a range of stakeholders and purposes, ensuring that user feedback is an integral part of on-going service review and evaluation.
8. To ensure effective financial management of the Online Today! project in Scotland.
9. To ensure effective and timely internal and external communication on Online Today! including the use of social media and website, presentations, information events and through the press.
10. To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post and role competencies.
11. To adhere to all RNIB policies and procedures.

1. Specialist knowledge, skills and experience
1.1 An understanding of national agenda driving digital inclusion, with special emphasis on disability and equal access.
1.2 Ability to maintain a strategic focus whilst ensuring that operational standards are established and maintained.
1.3 Experience of successfully developing collaborative working models with the statutory sector / third sector. Experience of effectively influencing and networking to secure key action required within and outside of the organisation.
1.4 Experience of data evaluating projects and demonstrating impact.
1.5 Knowledge of the Scottish political context and culture.

1.6 Knowledge of specialist access technology software programmes and products and their functionality for people with sight loss.
