Jackie Parker Response to App idea - Purchasing apps for student iPads:
· Because our school iPads are used by multiple users, the terms of use and user agreement are different than with personal accounts.
· Personally, you can pay for an app 1 time through itunes and it is legal to install it on the devices on your account - because those are personal devices
· At school - since multiple people use each device - it all changes. You have to pay for the app for each device it is installed on.
· Since all of the student iPads at TES are on the same Apple ID, with a regular itunes card, there is no way to pay multiple times for an app. After it is paid for the first time, there is no way to pay for the same app multiple times.DO NOT purchase regular itunes cards because they can't be turned into VPP voucher
· Schools wishing to purchase apps for their student iPads (or teacher iPads) need to do so through Apple's Volume Purchasing Plan (VPP) - which our district technician, Caroline Meade, manages
· Through the Apple VPP some apps may be available at half price when 20 or more licenses are purchased.
· No one has done this yet, but here is how the process will work:
o
o schools purchase vouchers for VPP through regular Apple but be sure to ask for VPP voucher
o voucher comes in the mail (3-5 days) looks like itunes card
o Bookkeeper keeps card with PO
o take a pic of the card and send to caroline
o tell caroline what apps need to be purchased through VPP and which devices get them (serial number of device getting the app)
o caroline does her thing and assigns it to that device
· Here is a link to check and see if apps are half off or not:https://volume.itunes.apple.com/store
Basically - myself and Caroline need to be involved in the process - let me know when we need to discuss it more.
