Add Assignment to Content Area
The Add Assignment feature allows you to link your files to any of the Content Areas. This tool is accessible via the Select pull down list on the upper right side of the page. It gives your students access to a drop box and also creates its own Category in your online Gradebook, which allows students to upload, save and place their assignments into the Gradebook.
A great benefit of the Add Assignment feature is that the instructor can give written feedback to the student on each assignment in a private, secure area other students cannot see.
From the Control Panel:
1.Click on desired Content Area.
2.Choose Assignment from the Select pull-down list.
3.Click the Go button.
4.Type assignment name in the Name field.
5.If desired, click Pick and select a color for the text in the Name field.
6.Enter the total points that will appear in the Gradebook in the Points Possiblefield.
7.Type text into the Instructions field.
8.Click Browse to attach files you wish to display. Note: A file does not need to be uploaded.
9.Enter text in the Name of Link to File field. This will be the name of the link that will appear. If you do not type anything in this field, the name of your file with its extension will be displayed as the link.
10.Select items from the Options section:
Make the content available - Available means that your students can see the document. Typically, documents are made “unavailable” when you are not ready for students to access them. You can change this option at any time.
Track number of views -This option lets you track how often individual users view this specific document.
Choose date and time restrictions- This option lets you set the dates that the document will be visible.
11.Click Submit.

Q: Why would I want to keep my assignment from being visible?
A: If you are not finished with your assignment you may choose to delay the accessibility of the assignment.
Q: What happens if I do not choose a Display After/Until Date and Time?
A: If you do not click on the Display check boxes, your assignment will be visible as long as your course is available.
Q: How does the Add Assignment feature work with the Digital Drop Box?
A: The “Add Assignment” feature adds functionality to the basic Digital Drop Box by making it possible for the instructor to put a Drop Box type link inside any content area (not just under Student tools) and adding it to the Gradebook.
