ART PAPERS
•Lab does not supply or sell them.
•Digital files can be output to text papers, cover stock, card stocks, art papers and hot-pressed watercolor papers (cold-pressed clog printer heads).
•Papers should be 90 lbs or lighter. (For papers labeled with a “gsm” number: divide that number by 2 to get the weight in pounds).
For our purposes, art papers are primarily watercolor and printmaking papers. 90 lb hot pressed paper is the lightest weight available for most watercolor papers.
Weight for art paper is based on 22 X 30 size. As a general rule, do not purchase any art paper large than 22 X 30 because although the thickness will remain stable the weight will tend to increase and can vary from 125 to 150 lbs. There are text-weight and cover-weight art papers, as well. Some comparative prices & sizes:

Commercial-weight papers:
These papers come in a wide range of colors, especially white, off-whites and muted earth tones, including natural, ivory, aged, natural fiber fleck and marbled. American commercial-weight papers often come in two types:
- Text (weight: 60-70 lbs. Size: 25 x 38 [most])
- Cover (weight: 80 lbs. Size: 26 x 40)
Large-sized commercial papers can be cut to fit digital printers’ maximum sizes. Most commercial-weight papers come in 8.5 x 11, as well.
