Mission Statement

The mission of Medomak Valley High School, through the collaboration with the community and home, is to provide a safe environment where students learn the skills to be effective communicators, confident problem-solvers, and involved citizens who embody sound character.

About our School and Students

Medomak Valley High School is a grade 9-12 public high school with 605 students enrolled for the school year 2009-2010. Senior class enrollment is 130. Curriculum

Courses designated Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors are the most challenging and grades are weighted. Most courses are college preparatory. Courses without a designation are differentiated to increase student mastery of the content. AP courses offered include: English Literature, Biology, United States History, Economics Macro, Economics Micro, and Government and Politics US. AP and enrichment courses are also available online through Virtual High School. Academic improvement and credit replacement are offered through PLATO Learning in the MVHS Student Achievement Center. All freshman students are in College Preparatory or Honors classes and there is a freshman team of teachers. Students have the opportunity to participate in dual-enrollment college programs through Central Maine Community College and the University of Maine. In 08-09, approximately 14% of MVHS students attended the Mid-Coast School of Technology for half of each day.

Grade Point Average

AP, Honors, and some early college courses receive an additional one point in determining the final weighted GPA. Rank is reported; no students share a rank. The number of students in the Class of 2010 in each weighted GPA range for six semesters is:
