Real Estate Tax Relief Working Group
Subgroup Work Plan

  1. Monday, October 24, 2016: Subgroups will meet for the first time toidentify those topics/questions they would like to address. DHS staff will provide Subgroups with an evaluation matrix to guide them in this process. Subgroups should also identify a date and time for their next meeting.
    Homework:
  1. Members of each Subgroup should consider the most notable and relevant findings from the literature review, best practices, and survey/focus group data, and apply them to their Subgroup’s identifiedtopics/questions.
  1. Each Subgroup should meet to share and summarize members’ initial thoughts on the selected topics/questions, which will then be discussed with the entire Working Group at the 11/14 meeting.
  1. Each Subgroup Note Taker should summarize the members’ initial thoughts and send them via email to DHS staff () no later than close of business Wednesday, November 9, 2016.
  1. DHS staff will share the Subgroups’ initial thoughts with the entire Working Group no later than close of business Friday, November 11, 2016.
  1. Monday, November 14, 2016: The entire Working Group will discuss the Subgroups’ initial thoughts and provide each other with feedback. Subgroups should also identify a date and time for their next meeting (if they haven’t done so already).
    Homework:
  1. DHS staff will document the Working Group’s feedback and distribute to Working Group members no later than close of business Wednesday, November 16, 2016.
  1. Each Subgroup should meet to discuss the rest of the Working Group’s feedback and drafttheir initial recommendations.
  1. Each Subgroup Note Taker should document the Subgroup’s initial recommendations and send them via email to DHS staff () no later than close of business Wednesday, November 23, 2016.
  1. DHS staff will share the Subgroups’ initial recommendations with the entire Working Group no later than close of business Friday, November 25, 2016.
  1. Tuesday, November 29, 2016: The entire Working Group will review, discuss, and prioritize Subgroups’ draft recommendations. Subgroups should also identify a date and time for their next meeting (if they haven’t done so already).
    Homework:
  1. Each Subgroup should communicate electronically or meet in person to put the recommendations agreed upon by the entire Working Group at the 11/29 meeting into a report format.
  1. Each Subgroup Lead should send the Subgroup’s section of the report via email to DHS staff () no later than close of business Wednesday, December 7, 2016.
  1. DHS staff will share the draft report with the entire Working Group no later than close of business Friday, December 9, 2016.
  1. Monday, December 12, 2016: The entire Working Group will review the draft report and propose any final edits, if necessary.
    Homework:
  1. DHS staff will revise per the Working Group’s final edits and format the final version of the draft reportno later than Friday, December 16, 2016.
  1. The final version of the draft report will be shared with the County Manager and County Board, posted online for public comment, and sent to relevant Commissions for review prior to the January 2017 community meeting.
