Roxanne Reyes appointed Cherry Chico to the position of Public Relations Officer

4.1 President
4.1a Discuss meeting with Kate Mahar
Roxanne Reyes explained how the chapter would cooperate with the Gear Up team in local high schools to educate and recruit honor role high school students.
4.2 Treasurer
4.2a Available account balance is $ $3039.55 amount available $357.50
4.2b Roxanne Reyes discovered a Books for Africa check that was lost I the
mailing process and that has been voided due to expiration.
5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
5.1 Approve Beta Mu Mu's regular minutes for the meeting held on August 26th, 2011.
Victoria Birdseye moved to approve the minutes, all in favor, motion passed.
6. CONSENT / ACTION AGENDA
6.1 Approve bylaws
Victoria moved to discuss the bylaws. Victoria Birdseye moved approve the bylaws. Motion passed.
6.2 Approve purchase request of $1250 to pay for scholarships for spring 2011.
Xochilt Gibson moved to approve the purchase request, all in favor, motion
passed.
7. DISCUSSION / ACTION AGENDA
7.1 Books for Africa
The chapter is going to share current Shasta College material with the Student Senate to help their lending library. In return, books that become out of date will be donated back to the Book for Africa collection. Dates and tasks will be assigned to regularly monitor the collection’s need for shipment.
7.2 Appoint jobs to officers
Will appoint jobs for officers at officer workshop.
7.3 Officer Workshop
Was set for Saturday, September 17th @ 2 pm at Freedom Rock at Shasta College
7.4 Football games sign ups
Football game fundraising opportunity was discussed and a signup sheet was passed around.
7.5 Shingletown Library Survey
The Shingletown Library requested feedback about their fundraising event they held this summer. Roxanne Reyes wants Brian Bethea and Xochilt Gibson, officers who attended, to write and summit a short comment to include in response.
7.6 Sign up for SCSS Presents
The four consecutive Fridays after September 16th will be SCSS Presents which will be local music in the amphitheater from 6pm to 9pm. Volunteers are needed to sell snow cones as a chapter fundraiser. Sign p sheets were passed around.
7.7 Regional and National Conference
The regional conference will be held October 14 to 16 in downtown Sparks. The
number of people the chapter would send was discussed. Victoria Birdseye moved to send three (3) officers and one (1) advisor to the regional conference in Reno, NV not to exceed $1000 for travel, food, lodging and registration.
7.8 Induction ceremony date
Discussed the induction ceremony date to be the week after spring break. The
discussion was tabled for an exact date.
8. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Roxanne Reyes announced that the GSA club on campus would be setting up a movie
Night and there meeting time was Wednesdays at 2pm.
9. COMMENTS
9.1 COMMENTS FROM INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS OF PHI THETA KAPPA
9.1a Tabitha Martin announced that the Student Senate has a lot odf events
coming up and encourages members to participate.
9.1b Roxanne Reyes explained the proper way to motion according to Robert’s
Rules.
