This is an excellent opportunity to work for an established national children’s charity inthe North West. We are looking to recruit 9 Senior Mentors to lead teams of sixteen-year-olds during our intensive summer programme. You will be working both in the local community in Liverpool, Sefton & Halton, and residentially at Liverpool University and in Ambleside (Cumbria) over a period of three to six weeks.

The Senior Mentor role is suitable for a dynamic and confident person with experience of leading groups of young people. You must be a qualified youth worker or teacher with experience of taking responsibility for groups and have a working knowledge of all issues in and around safeguarding.

Key aspects of the role are to:

  • Lead, inspire and pastorally care for a team of up to15 participants, ensuring their safety and assisting their personal development through three weeks of intense activities.
  • Work with the support of the Programme Manager to deal with challenging behaviour from young peopleand delivery of programme.
  • Support the programme with the design and delivery of sessions and activities.
  • Assist the monitoring and evaluation of the programme.
  • Support the Team Mentor

To be considered for this role, you will need to:

  • Be a qualified youth worker or teacher with experience of taking responsibility for groups
  • Have the ability to build rapport, motivate and command respect of a group of up to 15 young people
  • Work hard to build trust with young people and develop strong working relationships with colleagues and community members.
  • Have experience of working in a fast paced and demanding environment
  • Have a can do attitude, with energy and enthusiasm to get the job done.
