LOCAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
1. Venue
The meeting of the Regional Technical Implementation Team (RTIT) of the SWFDP – Southern Africa will take place from 19 to 22 July 2011 at the Conference Room of the Pearle Beach Resort & Spa Hotel, in Flic en Flac, Mauritius.
Pearle Beach Resort & Spa Hotel is situated in the western part of the Island, about 45 minutes drive from the capital city Port Louis.
2. Hotel Accommodation
Participants are responsible to make arrangement for their own accommodation and are encouraged to stay at the Pearle Beach Resort & Spa Hotel where the RTIT meeting will be held. The special conference room rate per day is as follows:
Single room: Rs 3500 (120 US $) – BB (VAT inclusive)
Single room: Rs 4000 (138 US $) – HB (VAT inclusive)

3. Visa Reqiurements:
Ciizens of Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), holders of laissez-passer issued by United Nations or from other internationally recognized organizations are exempted from visa. Otherwise, entry visa can be obtained from the Mauritius Embassy or

4. Passport:
All persons coming to Mauritius need a valid passport for at least six months
5. Currency:
The currency used in Mauritius is the Mauritius Rupee (Rs). The current approximate conversion rates with some of the main currencies as at 2 June 2011, are as follows
· 1 US $ - Rs 27.23
· 1 Euro € - Rs 39.23
There is no restriction on the amount of foreign currency that may be imported into Mauritius. Bureau de change are open till 7.00 pm. All major credit cards are accepted everywhere and some ATMs can be used to obtain local currency with overseas banking cards.
6. Transport from Airport to Hotel
Arrangement has been with a Taxi Service to transfer you to Pearle Beach Resort & Spa Hotel, Flic en Flac, and then back to Airport; each participant will pay for his own taxi fare. 7. Climate of Mauritius in July
July is a winter month with very pleasant weather along the western coast, though it may become windy when anticyclones are transiting to south of the Indian Ocean. Day maximum temperature at Flic en Flac is around 26 °C and night minimum is around 17 °C. It is mostly dry with an average of 3 rainy days. However, if you wish to venture over the higher grounds, day maximum temperature is around 21 °C and night minimum around 15 °C
