POSITION TITLE: Director of Auxiliary Services

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Þ Minimum 5 years work experience in a maintenance, transportation or food service related field.
Þ Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in a maintenance related field.
Þ Computer experience desired.
Þ Ability to effectively deal with the public and staff, both in person and on the phone.
Þ Valid South Carolina drivers license.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.
Þ Annually conducts evaluations of all department employees.
Þ Procures all equipment and supplies used in maintenance/custodial department in accordance with District, State and federal guidelines.
Þ Maintains energy saving devices on boilers and air conditioning units and recommends changes as needed.
Þ Inspects buildings, equipment and District grounds for maintenance and general repairs.
Þ Assigns work assignments to District maintenance personnel on a daily basis.
Þ Develops and coordinates the District’s long-range maintenance/custodial plan.
Þ Assists in budget preparation for maintenance/custodial, food service, transportation related items.
Þ Assumes responsibility for the fiscal plan operations, which include buildings and grounds maintenance, facility and equipment repairs and general maintenance items.
Þ Supervise the operation of the School Food Service Program.
Þ Prepare all necessary reporting for the SFS Program
Þ Organizes and implements a student transportation system within the policies of the Board of Trustees.
Þ Prepares bus routes and schedules for all public schools in the District.
Þ Recruits, interviews, trains, checks background of, and recommends for employment, transfer, promotion and release all transportation personnel.
Þ Develops and implements maintenance plan for activity vehicles.
Þ Prepares and administers the transportation budget.
Þ Authorizes purchases in accordance with budgetary limitations and District needs.
Þ Maintains safety standards in conformance with State and insurance regulations and develops a program of preventive safety.
Þ Cooperates with school principals and others responsible for planning special school events
Þ Develops recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based a survey of residents, distances and grade levels.
Þ Completes and dispatches accident reports.
Þ Submits all required reports to state authorities.
Þ Attends appropriate committee and staff meetings.
Þ Annually conducts evaluations of transportation department employees.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Þ Supervises and provides leadership for all employees of the District Maintenance and Food Service, and Transportation Departments.
PHYSICAL SKILLS:
Þ The employee is regularly required to walk, stand, talk and listen.
Þ The employee is occasionally required to sit.
Þ The employee must be able to reach with hands and arms.
Þ The employee must frequently lift and/or move 90+ pounds.
Þ Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
Þ Employee must be able to distinguish where a sound is coming from be able to hear the difference between bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc.
Þ The employee is frequently required to drive.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Þ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Þ Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Þ Ability to effectively present information to administrators, employees, students, parents, public groups/community, and the Board of Education.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Þ Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and the school community.
Þ Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Þ Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
