ANNUAL REPORT – HIGH SCHOOL (2014-15) 17th April 2015

It gives me immense pleasure in welcoming our most respected guest of honour, Thiru. Manjunatha I.P.S. We are indeed honoured by your esteemed presence Sir! It’s a joyful moment to welcome the members of the management for this Annual day programme. I would also like to extend a hearty welcome to our trustee Mr S. Sreedhar, our correspondent, Mr T. Rajendiran, our Academic director, Mrs Anandhi Rajendiran, Vice-Principal of Matric, Mrs Preethi Ramkumar, Parents, teachers, well-wishers and to all my dear students who have gathered here.

With the grace of GOD, the love of our well wishers and the immeasurable potential and commitment of ALL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS, every year is becoming more special since Shrishti Vidyashram’s wings are spreading wider and wider year after after. I am privileged to undertake the pleasant duty of presenting the ANNUAL REPORT of all the activities as a chronicle, undertaken during this academic session 2014-15 . We thank God for making year as stupendous as can be. ANNUAL REPORT is an internal and external operation of our school.

Academic Excellence:

At the threshold I would like to highlight the board results of last year- 2014 March.

In Std X, 50 students had appeared for board examination (AISSE) and 7 wrote school based examination. We are proud to say that we had 100% result- 6 students secured clear A1 grade and 7 students secured A1 grade with up gradation in all 5 subjects.

Our seventh batch of STD. XII (AISSCE) students also had proved themselves by their stunning performance in the CBSE examinations in 2014. We had a 99% pass with 162 students clearing the XII CBSE stream. Our students Avantica and Premkumar topped Vellore respectively.

I would like to highlight the top marks in each subject.

In English: 2 students had secured 96 marks and 59 got 95marks and 87 students scored above 90 marks.

In Physics: 14 students had got above 90

In Chemistry: 27 secured above 90

In Maths: 35 secured above 90

In Biology 36 secured above 90.

In C Sc. 8 got above 90.

In Business Studies 13 got above 90.

In Accountancy 8 got above 90.

In Economics 9 got above 90.

In E S, 2 got above 90.

In I P ,5 got above 90. We are grateful to God the Almighty for His abundant grace and mercy.

And in 2015 March 72 students have appeared for std 10 Board based examination. 152 students of std XII appeared for their CBSE board examination.

As always, our focus was on holistic development of the students. Real education took the centre stage as every year. We incorporated new and updated books to ensure that wedon’tcompromiseof the quality of the education imparted. Our commitment has been to ensure the overall holistic development of our students in addition to our efforts to impart the best education. To cater to the varied abilities and individual strengths of learners, the CBSE has recommended that multiple models of assessments like Open Text based Assessment, to incorporate analytical and theoretical skills. And (PSA) Problem Solving Assessment to assess the students’ abilities to analyse given life situations, to comprehend and interpret written text and other essential higher order thinking skills.

As we share the yearly updates of our activities, we take modesty to say that we did more than what we planned and we are proud of our students and teachers whostrive hard to achieve beyond expectation.

Here is the glimpse of few activities and achievements:

Fresher’s Day for grade XI:

Fresher’s Day for grade XI was celebrated on 9th June, 2014. Students’ response and their experience at Shrishti given by students of STD XII thrilled and inspired the students of std 11 to enter the portals of Shrishti with courage and vigour.

Investiture Ceremony:

The Investiture ceremony was held on 2nd July rd 2013 marked the anointing of leaders enthrusting them with the duty to lead the school. To record the quintessential quality, the SPL passed on the light to the school council and professed the oath administered by the Director of academics. The Chief Guest was Dr. Lionel Gnanaraj, a consultant urologist at CMC.

Sports Day:

A sport is an amalgamation of activities that propagates every human being, the importance of team spirit, sportsmanship and un-equivocal patriotism towards country. Shrishti Vidyashram celebrated the 12th Annual Athletic meet on 15th August, 2014. The chief guest Dr. Deepak Thomas Abraham, CMC, enthralled the audience with his outstanding speech. The four houses marched with pride and perfection which proved that commitment and order are what every shrishtian strives for. All classes displayed celestial show of colour and gaiety which unmistakably brought out the versatility of the students.

Teacher’s Day:

The teacher’s day was celebrated with great pomp and show on the 23rd August, 2014 as a mark of tremendous triibute to the teachers in commemoration with Dr. Radhakrishnan’s birthday.

Children’s Day:

Every year Children’s Day in Shrishti School is held with a lot of fun and grandeur. The school ‘wears’ a festive look with children being dressed in colourful attire of all styles. The children’s day this year was celebrated on 1st November, 2014 in commemoration with the founder’s day. It was well punctuated with songs and plays in both tamil and English namely ‘Pizza’ and’ Macbeth’ by the staff of Shrishti Schools which held the students spell bound. The children were kept in the fun filled mood through, by the much awaited carnival, lucky-dip and the juke box.

Celebrations:

As always, this year was filled with lot of celebrations which included World Environment day, Christmas, Diwali, Ramazan and Pongal. All these celebrations enabled the children to think in unison and to work in harmony.

To ensure that our students are equipped to face any challenge, we have morning assemblies focussing on special topics like punctuality, patriotism, honesty, humility, leadership and piety. The students also have done many projects and researches on disaster management, A.Y.U.S.H, Population growth, seasons and germination.

Competitions:

The academic year was indeed successful not just in academics but also in terms of students exposing their talents undauntedly inside and outside school. Just to mention a few……Our students participated in literary competitions conducted by Kamarajar academy. They also took part in Dance and Drawing competitions conducted by Ida Scudder school and bagged I prize in both. In November 2014, 9 students in 3 groups enthusiastically participated in Science Project conducted by Ida Scudder and bagged II place. They also took part in Bank quiz, St. Patrick Rolling Trophy a Bournvita quiz and by Mr Muthukumaran, and 12 members were awarded with I prize in Bournvita quiz. 14 the students had a great experience of participatiing in The Hindu Young World Quiz 2015 in January. 81 students in 4 groups went for VIT Mathematical meet, 2015 and brought 7 prizes indifferent competitions.

Shrishti Students even show their competitive spirit Inter school levels- TVSSC conducted at Vedavalli Vidyalaya and bagged I place in Singing, II place in Spell bee, II place in Flight crash and I place in Add Zap .3 of our students took part in CBSE Heritage quiz at BRS International Residential school, Bangalore in November 2014. 70 students participated in TERI –Green- Olympiad- CBSE and 35 in Robotics workshop cum competition-TVSSC at Vedavalli Vidyalaya Sr, Sec. School in the month of October. Vidya Peedam school, Sholinghur held Elocution competition in November and 7th and 5th std students participated and won III and II prizes respectively. Students from classes IX to XI participated in Science quiz, Model making and Idea presentation in INOVIT 2015 on 24th and 25th of January 2015. In quiz Johann Abraham and Sethu Ram of class XI won Rs 15000 as I prize cash award and Yadhu Bala, Haggai Daniel and Dakshin won Rs 5000 as III prize. In Idea Presentation, Giftson Paul and Antony Daesel of class XI bagged Rs 10000 as II prize and Sachith kumar and Jeeven Siddarth of class XI won Rs 3000 as consolation prize. In Model Making, Lena Sekar of class XI won Rs 3000 as consolation prize.

Utsav:

“Utsav”,is a magnum festival celebrated each year in Shrishti, to disentangle the symptomatic talents of our students, in the most heroic style possible. Festive spirit pervaded across Shrishti Vidyashram school on 1st Feb,2015. This cultural fiesta sought to highlight the soulful songs, versatile abhinaya and the English plays namely ‘Frozen’ and ‘Oliver the musical’. A precursor to the festival was ritualistic as the whole campus brimmed with enthralling audiences. The school was abuzz with activities of students exhibiting their best talent for their family and friends.

Staff Picnic:

The management had arranged a picnic for the staff of Shrishti schools in the month of February to Pondicherry to break the humdrum of work and to relax with their colleagues. It was TEACERS’ DAY OUT.

Clubs: (Literary, IHA, Eco Club & Home Science)

Students showcased their talents through speeches, debates,drama, story writing and many more. Shrishti has been blessed with a set of dynamic staff whose work has edged the students to a greater extent. They have helped in incorporating a set of clubs in the school campus to enable children fine tune their skills and carry the legacy further. We have the IHA club which is a plethora of excellent opportunities where the child’s creative growth stems out of its shell. This year we had many eccentric events. Eco Club and the Home Science club that concentrates on gardening and cookery. The Literary Club focuses on language development.

Work Education:

CBSE has foreseen the need of students’ unearthing the talents which are hidden in them. Students of Class XI had candle making, Electric circuit, Interior decorations, Pottery colouring etc in this year. Std 6 to 9 students visited the home for the aged, leather factory, Anbu Illam, Sishu Bhavan, Worth Trust, Old Age Home, a visit to a village, Thulir Water Plant, process of Shoe Making. Orphanage enriched their experiences.

Workshops:

Work shop is a place where anything is sharpened to work better. These seminars and workshops help our teachers to be familiar and updated with the new trends in the educational sector.Our teachers dint fail to attend any workshop scheduled for them. The various workshops attended by our faculty are as follows:

·  One day workshop on Katha Club Creative work in PSBB Millinium Chennai on

·  One day capacity building related to CCE

·  A workshop on the topic ‘Teaching English”

·  Ratna sagar’s workshop “ Multiple Intelligence and Learning style of students and Teaching Attitude and Skills

· A CCE by CSSC Cluster- TVSSC

·  Science teachers workshop ‘Innovative Methods of Teaching Science

·  Various other workshops like Integerated Education, Maths Lab activity, Innovative methods of teaching social science, The international Award for young people, Adolescence Empowerment programme were attended by all subject teachers in different venues.

Farewell:

On 28nd of March, 2015 was the day to say adieus to all our XII and X graders and to wish them all the best for their bright future. Students of class XI and IX entertained the out going batches with their cultural events. Illuminating words of correspondent, Mr. Rajendran’s a inspirational speech by Mrs. Anandhi Rajendiran, Director of Academics, the thoughts provoking message of the principal and the teachers did make an indelible mark on the outgoing students.

SPORTS AND GAMES REPORT

CLUSTER V FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

The cluster V Football Tournament for Boys was conducted by PSBB Senior Secondary School, K.K. Nagar, Chennai. 62 teams from all over Tamil Nadu participated in this tournament in which our boys Football team obtained the 6th position.

DISTRICT LEVEL WOMEN SPORTS COMPETITONS

District level Women Sports Competitions under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan

organized by Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu were held at SDAT Vellore for the year 2014 -2015, M. Akshitha of Std – X participated in the Discipline of Lawn – Tennis and won the title.

CLUSTER V ATHLETIC MEET – BOYS

Cluster V Athletic Meet for Boys was conducted by Sri Vidyamandir Secondary School, Salem

SCUDDER RELAY

IDA scudder school conducted Inter-School 4x100M Relay Race. Our school team participated and obtained the second place in both Boys and Girls categories.

V.I.T TOURNMENT

VIT University conducted the 6th Smt. Rajeswari Viswanathan Memorial Inter School Tournaments for Boys and Girls. Many schools from the District participated and our school team obtained the following results.
