Summer Fayre PTA Meeting 25-May-2011

Forthcoming Events

  • Summer Fayre – Saturday 18th June

AT to make poster to advertise the Family Fun Day. AM to write a letter to the staff asking for their help on the day.

Ideas… (confirmed in red!) If in black please can you have answers ready by the next meeting? Cheers!

  • Hog Roast and burgers and veggie burgers.
  • Pimms, beer and cider Tent
  • Tea Tent. Liz Dowding will make some scones. Children will be asked to bring in cakes
  • Visit from the emergency services.
  • Sherborne Youth Band
  • Yetminster Irish Dancers
  • Pony Rides
  • Quad bike rides
  • Games – tug of war, wheel barrow races, 3-legged races, toss the hay bale, welly wanging
  • Stalls from local community and parents – AM to ask Jane Read for list of potentials.
  • A dressing up competition for Key Stage 1 – Pirates and Princesses, Key Stage 2 – a character from TV, music or film.
  • Making kites.
  • License applied for and received but with incorrect date on!! All sorted and amendment on way.
  • Teenage rock band called ‘Unzipped’ will play (Mrs. Locke’s son Ollie is in the band)
  • Mini crèche and children’s area with tepee, hook-a-duck, splat the rat and other children related activities and games.
  • Tombola (we need the barrel!!!)
  • Knock-a can
  • Egg tray game
  • Lemonade and water game
  • Wine and water game
  • Human fruit machine
  • Lucky dip
  • Penalty shoot out – AM to ask Lee from Teamtheme if they would like to do this and give % of their takings.
  • Face painting

Finance

AS has a full price list for the stalls, activities and refreshments.

Paul Miller has requested a grant of approx £360 for blinds and curtains in Acorn Class. This was agreed by the committee and upon invoice the amount will be paid.

Swimming Pool Committee Feedback

The pool will be out of use until next year as agreed at the last meeting. Fundraising will start ASAP. AS to pass ThorncombeSchool contact to AT to find out how they run their family pool.

Allocate Actions

Ali Sparks to investigate how to get charitable status and any impacts on how the PTA is run.

Anna Matthews to see if a police car can attend.

Di to find out about fun fire engine and AS to see if fire engine could attend the Summer Fayre.

Becki Cooke to check if Sherborne Youth Band would like to play at the Summer Fayre.

Ali Sparks to check if Yetminster Irish Dancers would like to perform at the Summer Fayre.

Hannah Wilson to get barrel of beer and keg of cider

Maxine Balch to get quotes for kite kits.

Maxine Balch to contact Phoenix to have a stall at the Summer Fayre.

Outstanding Actions

Jess and Hannah to ask Julian Bennett if he could make a tombola drum. Hannah can provide wood. Ongoing.

Hannah Wilson (with Mr. Hilliar) to organise repair of the play trail. Ongoing

Hannah Wilson has offered used of a skip, just need to sort out what is rubbish and help load it in their truck. Ongoing

Race night – provisional date set for Sat 22nd October. This will be a fundraiser for Pre-School and PTA.

Spring Ball – March 2012

Date of next meeting: 7th June 9am but I don’t know where – sorry!!!
