Treasurer’s Report: Updated budget presented by Katie Flood. We received our check from the collection of Box Tops ($1,348). The budget needs to be adjusted next year to account for the increase of students attending Old Mill.
Julie Ward: The teachers would like to thank the PTA and everyone that helped with the dinners during SSPs.
Amber Overton: During the mid-year membership we had eight new members join. The Witt family won the $50 Wigglish gift card. Discussed making welcome packets for the new families that move in after the school year starts.
Theresa Gubler: Theresa asked parents to email Legislator Kraig Powell to restore the 2% cut in education spending in the Utah budget. Theresa handed out an article on why people volunteer, and we discussed ways to increase our volunteer rate. Meet the Masters schedule is changing (April 22), and a new schedule was handed out. Theresa said PTA will look into buying Spanish-language books for the library. Literacy month has started, and each week the winning class in each grade will have a food tasting party in their classroom. Theresa is confirming that Shotgun Jackson of K-Bull 93.3 FM is coming on March 18th to record a grade saying the Pledge of Allegiance to be aired on K-Bull’s morning show. The grade which reads the most (per student) for Literacy Month will get to do this. The PTA is working on a condolence gift for the passing of Mrs. Malmrose’s mother. Smencils sale will be March 16th-20th; Kim and Paige will oversee that. Need to promote Smiths school rewards program more. A flyer will be made and handed out.
Kim Dickerson: The Wasatch School District is proposing a bond for the November election ballot - parents need to be educated on our District’s need for more schools. Terry Shoemaker and Blaik Baird will be presenting at the PTA night meeting next month on 3/12. The title for Dads and Donuts and Moms and Muffins will not be changed. Days Market is having a reading contest to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday. During the week of March 2nd- 7th, the school that reads the most minutes will win the Dr. Seuss rice crispy house.
