ADA 3MY: Open Ended Script

Objective: To develop the given circumstances so that the audience understands:

  1. what has happened previously
  2. what the relationship is amongst cast members
  3. what will happen after the blackout

Remember Spolin. If you have one piece of the puzzle, the others can and will fall into place. WHO are you? WHERE are you? WHAT is happening? HOW does your character feel about it? REACT!

Guidelines

1. For this assignment you will work in groups assigned by Ms. Lillie.

2. You will need to memorize your lines. Yes, all 2 or 3 of them…

3. Decide on all of the given circumstances.

4. You must decide what you are really saying with your line. Obviously the lines written here are vague and there are any number of possible scenarios. You and your partner must decide a) what has previously happened between these two people and b) how you will make sure that audience understands this.

5. You will mark your script to clearly indicate not only your dialogue line but also what you are really saying. This will help ensure the correct tone.

6. Use dramatic pause and business to help communicate your intention and story line.

7. You need a few simple props and an appropriate piece of music to enhance your scene.

8. Start and finish your scene in tableau.

THE CATCH: You need to create two (2) scenes actually, contrasting scenes. Your group will present your set of lines in two completely different ways. Say what? Yup. SHOW us you understand subtext and scaping. Okie dokie then. GO!
