Fairhope Youth Basketball Discipline Policy

Fairhope Youth Basketball is committed to providing a recreational program that emphasizes sportsmanship, fair play and a family oriented atmosphere.

All coaches, players and family members should understand that their participation is completely dependent upon their acceptance of certain standards of behavior. Violations of these standards will result in sanctions such as suspension or expulsion from Fairhope Youth Basketball.

The following policies are provided so that all coaches, players and their families will clearly understand these standards of behavior and the consequences that will result if violations occur.

  1. No player may participate in Fairhope Youth Basketball activities while they are suspended from school.
  1. No foul or abusive language is permitted, including cursing or racial slurs. The penalty for inappropriate language is ejection from the game and possible suspension from future games.
  1. No fighting is allowed. The penalty for fighting in the gym by players during or after a game or practice is suspension for a minimum of one game and possible expulsion from the League for the remainder of the season while Coaches involved in fighting will be expelled from the League for the remainder of the season.
  1. Violent behavior will not be tolerated. Examples include willful and deliberate throwing of equipment and threatening gestures and words. The penalty for violent behavior is ejection from the game and possible expulsion from the League for the remainder of the season.
  1. Arguing with referees sets a bad example for everyone and lessens the enjoyment of the basketball game for all involved. Referees are to be treated in a respectful manner. Our referees and league officials have been empowered to remove disruptive coaches, parents and fans from gym facilities.
  1. No tobacco (smoke or smokeless) or alcohol use is allowed by coaches or players at any League event. Use of these products during League events may result in suspension and/or expulsion from the League for the remainder of the season.
