Registration Steps Transcription:
When you are ready to register for courses, you will need to access your Pirate Port account. You may access Pirate Port from the ECU homepage at Scroll down to Quick Links and select Pirate Port.
Here you will log in with the information given in your admissions packet for your pirate ID and password. Click Log In to enter. Once in Pirate Port, you will click Main SSB Menu to access Banner to register for courses. A window will pop up with important information about security. After reading, click to Continue.
Once the Banner menu opens you will select the Student tab from the main menu. The next selection will be Registration and to look up courses you wish to add to your schedule you will click Add or Drop Classes.
From here you will select the appropriate term, Fall 2016, and click Submit. Next, you will be prompted for your registration PIN number. This number will be the first day of class for the fall 2016term. Enter 082216 and click Submit.
You may not have any courses in your schedule at the present time. To look for courses click Class Search at the bottom of the screen. You have multiple options for searching. You may search by subject only or click Advanced Search to search on more details.
The minimum criterion needed to search is a subject. You may add additional criteria to search that will narrow your results. Start with a broad search and narrow later as needed.
Using the Advanced Search, we will look for a History course. Select History from the subject field, scroll to the bottom and click Section Search. This will bring back a list of all History courses being offered fall 2016.
This list includes the course title, the days of the week it is offered and the times of day as well as the seat limit for each of those sections. When looking at days ‘R’ indicates Thursday. The Capacity lets you know exactly how many seats are offered (in total). Actual is the number of seats that are taken. And remaining is the number of seats remaining available for registration.
You will see the instructor (if assigned) as well as an attribute column to indicate if these courses meet any special requirements for foundations curriculum. We will select the section that best meets our needs and check the box beside that course.
We will scroll to the bottom andclick Register. This will take the course back and place it in our schedule. We now have a total of 3 semester hours.
We will follow the same steps to add additional courses by scrolling down and clicking Class Search.
This time we will do a class search for Health without using theAdvanced Search. Highlight Health and click Course Search. You will see the Health courses listed. We want to register forHealth 1000.
We will click View Sections to see all of the Health 1000 sections offered for the fall semester. We will select the section that best meets our needs – checking the box beside the section, scrolling to the bottom and clicking Register. We now have 5 credit hours registered for our schedule.
Next we will search for a Chemistry course by scrolling and clicking Class Search and selecting Chemistry then Course Search. We are going to look for a section of Chemistry 1150 by clicking View Sections and attempting to add section 003to our schedule, checking the box and clicking Register.
You will notice that it is not listed in our schedule. When you scroll down, you will see a registration-add error letting you know there is a co-requisite requirementof Chemistry 1151 for this course and you must register for them together.
To select a section of Chemistry 1151 co-requisite for Chemistry 1150, click Class Search again at the bottom, next clickAdvanced Search.
Here we will select Chemistryin the subject field and scroll to the bottom and click Section Search. Click the section of Chemistry 1150 you would like and a section of Chemistry 1151 that fits your schedule.
Checking those boxes together, scroll to the bottom and click Register. You can see thatbothof these courseshave been added to our schedule.
Another way you may add courses to your schedule is by using the Add Classes Worksheet at the bottom of the schedule.
You will enter the CRN of the course or courses you wish to add. You may find the CRNs when you click Look Up Classes or Class Search. When you enter the CRNs and click Submit Changes, it will register the course (or courses) in your schedule.
If you wish to drop a course from your schedule, simply select the course you wish to drop and in the Action column beside that course pull down the menu and select Web Dropped.
Scroll to the bottom and click Submit Changes to drop the course. This will instantly drop the course from your schedule, so do not click Submit Changes unless you are certain you wish to drop the course.
Once you process it, the course is dropped from your schedule and the seat is available for another student to register.
You may view your student schedule in two different ways. Clicking on the Student tab at the top you will select Registration and the first way we will view the schedule is by the Week at a Glance.
This lays outyour schedule week by week in a calendar format. Each of these courses listed is a link to more detailed information about the specific course.
The second way to view your schedule is the Student Detail Schedule. We will select the Student tab at the top and select Registration next selecting Student Detail Schedule. This will pull up your schedule with blocks of information about each individual course in your schedule.
You will see the title, the name of the course, the number, the days of the week, times of the day, instructor (if assigned) and where the course will be taught.
To return to your schedule to add and drop courses, we will scroll to the top. Select the Student tab, select Registration, select Add or Drop Classes.
Make sure to check out the Schedule Planner tool for help planning your schedule. Select the Student tab then select the Registration link. You can also find more information by visiting This tool can help you choose your optimal schedule. To see your degree audit select the Student tab then select Student Records and click the DegreeWorks link.
Congratulations on completing your first course schedule as an ECU Pirate. Once registration opens, you may come back and adjust your schedule with your registration PIN number any time through the first five days of class.
