Title:THE LIGHT BUSINESS
Scripture Text: Luke 8:16-18
INTRODUCTION
We don’t light up a candle and put it under the bed. The purpose of light is to reveal and show all that is hidden, therefore we must let our light shine through our good deeds so that our heavenly Father can be glorified. Without light, the most beneficial thing can become useless or even dangerous.
Points of Discussion
What is light?
Light is the illumination that reveals what is around or in the dark.
Without proper light, it will be impossible for us to find our way through life.
Light makes it easier for us to understand God because Jesus is the Word, and the Word is the light – Read 1 Corinthian 2:14
Who is the light?
We are the light – Read Matthew 5:14-16
Jesus is the light – Psalm 119:106
Who benefits from the light when it shines?
The world benefits more from the light, even though the world think Christians are not important or useful.
The world wants the truth, but not the God of the truth.
Examples of natural attractions before the assignment
Through the unconsumed burning bush, God got the attention of Moses, although the burning bush was not his assignment, God has a much bigger assignment for him.
There is something about the opposite sex that attracts each other before the assignment of creating a family becomes a reality.
- Likewise, our light must shine so much to attract people to our God.
- We must stop hiding or running from our assignment of being the light to the dark world.
Things you need to know…..
The world grope in darkness despite all the light on the streets and homes.
Never follow a popular culture because it’s always changing, only the truth of God stands forever.
We must stop hiding because the world needs our light to see and find ways.
Truth hurts before it liberates.
God is a Father of generation and not just Father of Abraham.
CONCLUSION
Though the world see the followers of Christ as not needed, but we have to constantly be the revelation of the truth that is needed to give light to the world, as well as being effective and working for the Lord. We must stop hiding, but remain on the light stand. Luke 8:18 warns us to take heed how we hear. God gives based on our ability and we need to always remember that He gives to those that ask while in light business.
