Band Booster General Meeting

Thursday, January 10, 2013 7:00 PM

Alecia Eppley called the meeting to order in the band room at 7:00 PM. The following were in attendance: Alecia Eppley, Dan Eppley, Sharon Shannon, Carol Jeffries, Rebecca Hecking, Charlie Demarest, Rhonda Lumley, Dennis Lumley, Debbie Faber, Kristin Martin, Keith Martin, Terry Johnson, Mary Jo Bartnicki, Terri Barr and Eric Schrader. Alecia allowed time for all to review a copy of December’s minutes. A motion was made by Kristin to approve the minutes, and a second was made by Sharon.

Treasurer’s Report

Vehicle sticker sales benefitted the boosters with a profit of $137.00. 50/50 proceeds from the two concerts in December totaled $413.00 – this amount included $135.00 that was donated back to the boosters by Jim and Lina Perry. Estimated profits from the sale of wooden roses will be $500 - $600. Boosters still owe approximately $26,000 on the Disney and Cedar Point trips (Disney $22,000, Cedar Point $3500).

Director’s Report

Mr. Schrader asked the group for opinions regarding having two concerts in December as opposed to the usual three – general consensus was that two was preferable to three. Steel Band A is practicing each day after school, working on tunes for upcoming concerts and performances at PMEA and elsewhere. Four students were named to District Band – to be held at Butler Intermediate HS on January 24 – 26: Mindi Douglas – clarinet; Sarah Shannon – clarinet; David Jeffries – trumpet; and Mercer Martin – Contra Bass Clarinet. Kristin requested and Mr. Schrader agreed to have a photo taken of the students who had attended Honors Band in November - for submission to the Record-Argus.

Old Business

·  Disney Update – Head count exceeds 100 travelers. Payments are going fairly well – a reminder was sent out today. One third of those going paid in full by the early discount due date in November. However, Rebecca is concerned about a few that might not pay. She will be making phone calls this week to reach out to those having difficulties. All chaperones must have clearances to accompany the band on the trip. The rooming list is due on January 25 to Kaleidoscope. The tip for bus drivers is included in the package – boosters still need to give a tip for the tour director. Alecia checked with Dennis Webber to determine how it was handled in the past – approximately $100 total was given.

·  Fundraiser Updates –Fresh Grounds Coffee/Tea/Gift Cards – Delivery will be January 25 – place and time to be determined. Stromboli Sale – Delivery day is Wednesday, January 16 from 4:30 – 5:30 in the cafeteria. Small order this time – only 17 students participated. Note for next “spring” sale – run the sale in January after school resumes, not over Christmas break. Pie Sale – Runs from January 28 – February 11 with delivery in the cafeteria on March 13. Cream pies will be added this time – 6 -7 new varieties. Daffins Candy Bars – let Alecia know if anyone is interested in selling those to earn money for individual accounts.

·  Spring Spaghetti Dinner – Mr. Schrader will check out April dates at the Knights of Columbus – all Sundays in February are booked.
