ANATOMY 112/MRS. ADAMS
You will assemble an interactive notebook for this class. The notebooks will have a “left side, right side” orientation to help you record, organize, and process new information. In addition to mentally processing the information, you will also be able to use your creativity to enhance your learning. All of your class work and homework will be done in your notebook.
Materials Needed:
A COLLEGE ruled spiral notebook (only for this class) AND black/blue pen, colored pencils/thin markers, thick markers, tape/glue, student scissors, student ruler, highlighters
What happens if I am absent?
If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to obtain lecture notes from another classmate (these you may copy). It is also YOUR responsibility to obtain left side notebook assignments from another student or from Ms. Hopp (this may NOT be copied!). Any evidence of copying left side assignments will result in zeroes for all parties involved.
Grading: At the end of each unit, I will collect this spiral notebook. This will result in one interactive notebook grade per unit. This spiral notebook will be graded using the following criteria:
- Title page of unit (10 points)
- All assignments include a title and a date (1 point for each title and 1 point for each date)
- All assignments included-correct content (15 points per assignment)
- Homework assignments complete the day they are checked
- Effort (15 points)
- Neatness (15 points)
- Creativity/Use of Color (15 points)
Notebooks will be organized in the following way:
- Title page for the notebook-right side, containing the title of the course, student’s name, teacher’s name, class period, and symbols or pictures related to the course
- Title Page for each Unit-right side, containing the title of the unit, the chapters of the unit, and relevant pictures and or symbols. Also, attach a colored tab to the title page to easily find the beginning of each unit
- Organized with “left side, right side” orientation
Right Side-the right side of your notebook is for class/book and lecture notes. As you take Cornell notes, you will structure them so that the key ideas are clear and supported by examples through class discussion. The use of highlighters and colored pencils is helpful to organize your notes. The right side of the notebook will be graded through tests and quizzes.
Left Side-the left side of your notebook will be used for a variety of activities, including homework. Left side activities will ask you to demonstrate your understanding of new ideas using creative and artistic skills. The left side of the notebook will be graded on correctness, content, effort and creativity, unless otherwise stated. Homework will be checked the day it is due.
