CDI Head Start Serving Cabarrus County, NC

is looking to fill the following positions:

Program Director- $1,960.00 Bi-weekly

This position manages the day to day program operations of a program with Head Start including personnel administration and supervision and oversees the over-all program to ensure smooth functioning of the program in all areas to provide quality services to children and families, and to support the goals of the program. Responsible for development, training and on-going work with the program Policy Council. Minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education, human services, business or related field with supervisory experience. This position requires demonstrated skills and abilities in a management capacity relevant to human services program management. Courses in public administration to include budgeting, personnel, and supervision are helpful. Bilingual preferred.

Administrative Assistant-HR/Fiscal- $15.00 Hourly HS/GED

$15.50 Hourly AA or higher

This position performs all duties as required to ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and other duties relating to fiscal operations. Position is responsible for monitoring program expenses, tracking activity in program budget lines and communicating any issues or overspending concerns. This position also is responsible for the human resources activities of the program including personnel files, ensuring orientation and tracking of staff. This position is responsible for the smooth operations of an office and other duties related to administration including answering phones, filing, etc.Minimum requirements are a high school diploma or GED with two years direct experience working with purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and human resources. Must possess a basic understanding of accounting systems and have at least one year of direct experience working with an accounting system general ledger and budget. AA degree or higher in a related field preferred. The individual must possess a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. The position must have the ability to manage numerous tasks, possess good organizational skills, communicate effectively with co-workers and the public, and work collaboratively in a team environment. Bilingual preferred.

Administrative Assistant- Secretary- $12.00 Hourly HS/GED

This position is responsible for the smooth operations of an office and other duties related to administration including answering phones, filing, etc. Performs all duties as required by the Program Director and/or immediate supervisor and other duties as assigned relating to the administrative component including, policy and procedure updates, typing, word processing, faxing, acting as receptionist and other clerical duties. Minimum requirements are a high school diploma or GED with some relevant experience in secretarial functions. AA degree or higher in related field preferred. The individual must possess a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. The position must have the ability to manage numerous tasks, possess

good organizational skills, communicate effectively with co-workers and the public, and work collaboratively in a team environment. Bilingual preferred.

Family and Community Partnerships Manager- $1,500.00 Bi-weekly BA

This position is responsible for oversight and development of systems to provide opportunities and support for growth of Head Start/Early Head Start families so they can identify their own strengths, needs and interests and find their own solutions. Developing a parent and community volunteer program and being the lead on child abuse and neglect issues are also part of this positions responsibilities. Developing relationships with community partners, to whom families can be referred for services, is also a key function of this position. This position is responsible for ensuring Family and Community Partnership services are supported by staff and/or consultants with training and experience in field(s) related to social, human or family services. Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Human Services, Family Studies or other human services related field plus associated experience working with young children and families. One year supervisory/management experience required. Twoyears’ experience in case management preferred. Bilingual preferred.

Education/Disabilities Services Manager- $1,500.00 Bi-weekly BA

This position is responsible for education in a HS/EHS program. This includes working to develop an early childhood education curriculum and providing educational resources for staff and parents, ensuring compliance with performance standards and recognized best practices in the field of early childhood education. The position ensures the education and child development services are supported by staff/consultants with training and experience in areas that include the theories and principles of child growth and development, early childhood education and family support. This position is responsible for services to children with disabilities. This includes working to develop appropriate placement and early childhood education curriculum and providing educational resources for staff and parents, ensuring compliance with performance standards and recognized best practices in the field of early childhood education and special education. The position could involve provision of direct services in the disabilities area only if the individual is licensed, certified or registered as such in the state of service. This position ensures that the disabilities services provided are supported by staff and/or consultants with training and experience in field(s) related to social, human or family services so that needed services for children with disabilities can be individualized and secured. Current minimum qualification is one of the following:

  1. A baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education; or
  2. A baccalaureate or advanced degree in any field and coursework* equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education with at least 500 clock hours of experience in an early childhood setting teaching preschool-age children. Bilingual preferred.

Health/Nutrition Manager- $1,500.00 Bi-weekly BA

This position is responsible for the facilitation of Health Services of the Head Start/Early Head Start program. The position is responsible for collaborating on the development and implementation of the program, tracking and recordkeeping, community relations and outreach. The position could involve provision of direct services in the health areas only if the individual is licensed, certified or registered as such in the state of service. This position is responsible for ensuring health procedures are performed only by licensed/certified health professionals with expertise in serving young children and

their families. This position provides content area training and technical supervision to other agency staff and ensures health services are supported by staff/consultants with training and experience in public health, nursing, health education, maternal and child health or health administration. Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in a health or nutrition field or other closely related field. Experience working in public health or nutrition arena and working with low-income clients preferred. Licensed or certified mental health professional preferred. Experience and training in public health, nursing, health education, maternal and child health or health administration preferred. Experience and knowledge of family-strengths/family-centered practice preferred. Bilingual preferred.

Facilities/Transportation Coordinator-$16.25 Hourly HS/GED

This position is responsible for overall management of the Head Start/Early Head Start facilities by ensuring that all buildings meet federal, state and local licensing requirements pertinent to type of use and that all required licenses are up to date. In addition this position ensures that leases, contracts or agreements for all sites are current with appropriate signatures, oversees the maintenance and cleaning of buildings to ensure that they are clean, safe and in useable condition and works with outside contractors and service oriented businesses, as necessary. The position is also responsible for maintaining a warehouse of supplies and equipment and for inventory control and distribution of items to Head Start/Early Head Start facilities. The position conducts regular health and safety inspections of buildings and playgrounds and chairs the Head Start Safety Committee. Minimum requirement is a HS/GED with two years related experience and demonstrated knowledge of general building maintenance and facilities management is required. Knowledge of local health/safety regulations, ADA and OSHA requirements preferred. Previous experience with lease management and contracting preferred. Bilingual preferred.

This position supports and assists families as they identify and meet their own goals through a family-centered case management model for developing and carrying out the program Family Partnership Agreements including responsibility for child files, enrollment/applications, etc. This position also assists with the completion of the child health requirements and other required screenings and assessments. The position may involve reassignment of caseloads and/or center location as deemed necessary for program operations. Minimum requirement is a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field within eighteen months of hire. An AA or higher in Social Work or Human Services or related human services field is preferred. Bilingual preferred.

Teacher Preschool- $1,240.00 Bi-weekly with AA waiver

$1,280.00 Bi-weekly AA

$1,320.00 Bi-weekly BA

This position serves as the lead worker in a classroom of Head Start children by planning, implementing, and supervising all classroom activities. This position works with typically developing children and children with disabilities. This position also serves as a social service referral person and shares responsibility for parent involvement in the program. The position may be reassigned to various classrooms/centers as deemed necessary for program operations. The position may serve as “site director” for child care licensing purposes. Minimum requirement is an AA in a field related to Early Childhood Education and coursework equivalent to a major relating to ECE with at least 500 clock hours of experience in an Early Childhood setting teaching preschool age children. Bilingual preferred.

Assistant Teacher- $11.00 Hourly HS/GED

$13.00 Hourly CDA

$14.00 Hourly AA or higher

This position works as part of a teaching team to work as a partner with the teacher in developing activities for preschool Head Start children to provide them with varied experiences and an appropriate learning environment. Works with typically developing children and children with disabilities. Assistance is given to the teacher in carrying out the goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards. The position may be reassigned to various classrooms/centers as deemed necessary for program operations.Minimum requirement is one of the following:

  1. A current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential;
  2. Be enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of being hired into the position;
  3. An associate or baccalaureate degree (in any area); or be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree. Bilingual preferred.

Cook-$10.00 Hourly HS/GED

This position is responsible the ordering, preparing, serving and documenting of meals and snacks. It includes following menus and all phases of kitchen operations including inventory control. The position contributes to the smooth operations and functioning of the kitchen in adherence to health and food safety codes and the strict cleanliness of the kitchen and food service and storage areas. The position may prepare foods for infants and toddlers and/or preschool children following

the USDA/CACFP standards. The minimum requirement is a HS Diploma or GED. Ability to meet state requirements (i.e., kitchen and/or health permit) required. Position may involve reassignment to various kitchens/centers as deemed necessary for program operations. Bilingual preferred.

Assistant Cook- $8.00 Hourly HS/GED

This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks and the clean up afterwards. It includes following menus and all phases of kitchen operations. The position contributes to the smooth operations and functioning of the kitchen in adherence to health and food safety codes and the strict cleanliness of the kitchen and food service and storage areas. It also contributes to the collection of correct documentation for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) which allows for reimbursement for food service (important to the program budget). Position may involve reassignment to various kitchens/centers as deemed necessary for program operations. The minimum requirement is a HS Diploma or GED. Ability to meet state requirements (i.e., kitchen and/or health permit) required. Bilingual preferred.

Custodian- $10.00 Hourly HS/GED

This position is responsible for ensuring clean, safe, functional facilities by performing cleaning and maintenance activities as well as some repair activities including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting when professional licensure is not required. The above knowledge and abilities are typically acquired through experience in custodial, maintenance services and/or in the area of janitorial services. The minimum requirement is a HS Diploma or GED. Bilingual preferred.

Program Aide-$8.00 Hourly HS/GED

This position works as a part of a team to assist in activities in the areas of the classroom, kitchen and bus and/or to serve as a disabilities aide as needed. The position contains elements of job descriptions of positions with titles similar classroom aide, janitor, and kitchen aide and as a disabilities aide providing support for children with disabilities. Works with typically developing children and/or children with special needs/disabilities. The position may be reassigned to various classrooms/centers/bus routes as deemed necessary for program operations. This

position may receive content area technical support and training from the staff person responsible for center supervision, teacher, kitchen staff and/or program managers/specialist/coordinators. The minimum requirement is a HS Diploma or GED. Some states may require additional requirements for kitchen aide duties (i.e., kitchen permit). Bilingual preferred.
