ADEPT SUPPORT WORKER

OVERALL AIM OF THE JOB

The service will provide bespoke support to Parents who are facing the possibility of having their child taken into the Care of the Local Authority or who have had a child/ren taken into care. The post holder will work with the Parent/s to support them through the process and assist them with accessing support for the emotional and practical impact. The aim of the scheme is to work alongside Parent/s on the journey for them to learn new skills and behaviours, build resilience, confidence and address issues that undermine their ability to demonstrate good enough parenting.

1) To support Parent/s, who are facing the possibility of having their child taken into care or who have had a child/ren taken into care, to develop approaches and strategies that result in increased parenting skills and positive life choices and behaviours.

2) To be a lead professional in a multi-agency support team who are committed to assisting Parent/s using a client centred approach to assess and address their immediate and medium -term support needs.

3) To offer planned practical advice, guidance and support to enable Parent/s to develop resilience.

4) To work in a multi-agency setting ensuring Parent/s needs are met through effective liaison and reporting.

5) To carry out risk assessment and needs assessment and develop support plans with Parent/s and regularly review these documents in order to ensure progress and identify changing needs.

6) Work with Parent/s to create a circle of support around them and their family to support long term development.

7) To work in a Challenge and support style, using client centred

Approach, NLP, CBT or other behaviour modification techniques.

8) To be a committed member of the E.C. Roberts Centre.

GENERAL OBLIGATIONS

a) Act as a member of the staff team in co-operation with officers - attending meetings as required.

b) Undertake any additional activities reasonably required by the Nursery Manager.

c) Comply with and implement Standing Orders.

d) Comply with ECRC policy with respect to all policies and procedures.

e)  Contribute to continuous improvement of service through active participation of formal service reviews. Show personal initiative in improving service delivery.

f)  To report any child protection concerns to your line manager (the Nursery Manager) and comply with the Child Protection/Safeguarding policies.

g)  To demonstrate a commitment to the Safeguarding of children/ Adults and promotion of their wellbeing and integrated working, at a level appropriate to the role.

h)  To participate in training and development as required by your line manager

TO A VEHICLE REQUIRED? HOURS/WEEK

Yes 39 hours per week Monday to Friday to be worked flexibly between the hours of 9am and 8pm: some weekend work may be required.

1.  As an ADEPT Worker you will:

·  Assess individual’s immediate, short term and long term needs.

·  Build a trusted keyworker relationship with agreed clear outcomes and small step action plans.

·  Carry out risk assessments with clients, identifying how risks will be removed, minimised and managed.

·  Identify appropriate agencies which will support the client(s) to ensure all their needs can be met.

·  Develop and implement creative support plans and exit strategies alongside clients clearly stating steps to be taken to achieve independence.

·  To respond in a timely manner to the needs ADEPT Parent/s.

·  Empower and promote clients to take responsibility and build resilience in addressing issues that may put them at risk.

·  Facilitate behaviour change and challenge behaviours which may lead to negative outcomes.

·  Maintain accurate records in line with relevant legislation and policy.

·  Monitor progress with clients and regularly review and evaluate support in line with service procedures.
