Clinical Services Management Committee

Purpose:

The Clinical Services Management Committee will oversee the management of the Massey University Veterinary Teaching Hospital and related clinical services.

Accountabilities of the committee:

1)In liaison with the VTH Director tomanage and implementthe strategic direction and policies of the Teaching Hospital

2)To promote and maintain the quality and timeliness of the clinical services

3)To maximisethe teaching value of the clinical services whilst maintaining their financial sustainability and excellent client service

4)To coordinate the activities of the services contributing to the clinical activities

5)To develop an effective marketing strategy for the clinical services

6)To develop policies which provide a stimulating and rewarding working environment for staff

7)To develop policies which provide a stimulating and rewarding learning environment for students

8)To assist the VTH Director inpreparation of the annual budget for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital

9)To oversee adherence to the annual budget

10)To assist in the development and maintenance of the VTH replacement equipment schedule

11)Approve and (when necessary) prioritize all requests to the holders of the equipment and buildings portfolios for minor capital works and approve and prioritise minor and major equipment applications pertaining to clinical services

12)To consider and where agreed by the group as appropriate approve applications for the use of Provet and Bayer funds

Clinical Services Management Committee

Membership

Veterinary Teaching Hospital Director or representative

The VTH Director will be the Chairperson of the committee and is responsible for ensuring the VTH achieves its mission.

Equine “service chief”

This individual will advise and assist the VTH director in the management and operation of the equine clinical services. He/she will coordinate the equine clinical services provided by the staff of Massey Equine and other groups or individuals.

Farm “service chief”

This individual will advise and assist the VTH director in the management and operation of the production animal clinical service. He/she will coordinate the farm services provided by the staff of the Dairy Systems and Pastoral Livestock management groups and other groups or individuals.

Companion animal “service chief”

This individual will advise and assist the VTH director in the management and operation the small animal clinical service. He/she will coordinate the small animal services provided by the staff of the Companion Animal Group and other groups or individuals.

Wildlife “service chief’

This individual will supervise and represent the wildlife service. He/she will coordinate the wildlife, and private bird and reptile clinical services provided by the staff of the Wildlife Group.

Diagnostic Imaging ‘service chief’

This individual will advise and assist the VTH director in the management and operation of the imaging service. He/she will coordinate the services provided by the staff of the imaging group.

Anaesthesia ‘service chief’

This individual will advise and assist the VTH director in the management and operation of the anaesthesiaservice. He/she will coordinate the services provided by the staff of the imaging group.

Clinical Services Manager

This individual will supervise and represent the nursing services. He/she will coordinate the nursing services provided by the staff of the Veterinary Nursing and Technicians group and other groups or individuals. They will also raise any issue relating to customer service and related issues

IVABSBusiness Manager

This individual will oversee the financial affairs of the Hospital and supervise ordering and payment of invoices. He/she will present monthly financial reports to the committee as well as distributing other finance related papers and reviews as required.
