CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Scientific Committee of the 2nd EMDR Asia Conference invites you to submit an abstract for the Philippine Conference 10-11 January 2014.

The deadline for submission is: 31st August 2013

Submission Documents Required:

·  Curriculum Vitae for each presenter ( Brief)

·  Submission Statement indicating what is new, unique, and/or innovative about the material you wish to present

·  Abstract (limited to 250 words)

·  Learning Objectives (at least 3, no more than 5)

Guideline Instruction for Authors:

1.  All abstracts will be subjected to peer-review by members of the Asian EMDR Conference Scientific Committee. The membership of the Scientific Committee is listed in Appendix 1.

2.  Submissions are encouraged to be sent electronically to utilising the enclosed format.

3.  Incorrect or incomplete submissions can not be considered by the Scientific Committee until they are complete and definitive.

4.  Abstracts may be submitted on any of the EMDR Conference Scientific theme areas listed below in Section B Part 5 relating to “EMDR Asia is moving forward to share EMDR experiences, learning from the field and collaborating with people of integrity. Let us grow together in harmony and expand EMDR in all corners of the world."

5.  All abstracts must be submitted in English.

6.  Acceptance of abstracts will be based upon both their scientific and technical qualities and the clarity of presentation.

7.  Authors are requested to indicate a preference for a specific type of presentation (Symposia, Workshop or Poster). Guidelines for both Oral and Poster presentation will be sent upon acceptance for inclusion in the 2nd EMDR Asia 2014 Conference Programme.

8.  Please note that on behalf of the EMDR Asia Scientific Conference Committee it may not be possible to accept all qualified abstracts for oral presentation.

9.  The submission of an abstract, including all relevant parties (co-presenters) connected with the abstract, does not constitute registration for the conference. Registration requires completion of the appropriate registration form and arrangements for the payments of fees.

10.  An individual submitting their proposal agrees that all work presented at the 2nd EMDR Asia Conference must conform to discipline-appropriate national or professional ethical standards. Confirmation of adherence to this requirement is part of the proposal submission process.

Symposium – Group of Presentations relating to a common EMDR theme, issue or question.
Workshop – Presentations that are either didactic or offer practical experience to help participants increase their understanding and skill in a particular area, or a programme for a concerted discussion on a particular EMDR related topic.
Poster Presentation - A Poster presentation is an effective means of advertising your research and raising awareness about your project. The goal of a Poster is twofold, it should first present the data and findings of the research but it should also present an argument for the validity and importance of the project. However a Poster Presentations can also focus upon emerging research ideas, EMDR Case Presentation and Theory, or new EMDR techniques and applications.

Introductory – Participants require no prior knowledge of your specific topic or content to participate fully and effectively in the symposium/ workshop. The information you are presenting or the skills you are teaching will most likely be unfamiliar to participants and will include basic theory and skills.
Intermediate – Participants should have some basic knowledge of the specific content you will cover, but need not have in-depth knowledge or skills. The symposium/ workshop will provide information at a level beyond the basic knowledge of the topic.
Advanced – To participate fully, those enrolled must possess a substantial working knowledge or skill level in your specific content area. Generally, it would be expected that the participants have significant knowledge and experience in the content area. You will provide advanced techniques or knowledge needed to refine and expand current expertise.

8.  Abstract (Limited to 250 words) – Please provide an outline/ description of the content that you wish to present at the Asian EMDR Manila 2014 Conference. Please be as specific as possible about how your presentation relates to EMDR and also provide an indication about the learning that will take place during your presentation.

9. Learning Objectives – Please submit at least three (Maximum of 5) learning objectives indicating what new skills or knowledge the participant will have acquired upon completion of your presentation. As much as possible, learning objectives should also be written to be SMART (an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Acceptable to you, Realistic to achieve and Time-bound within a deadline)

Key Word Tips: Demonstrate, develop, analyse, evaluate, organise, create, apply, produce, implement, compile, construct, critically consider, etc.

Presenter Agreement

Should this submission be selected at the 2nd Asian EMDR Conference, Philippines 2014 on behalf of myself and my co-presenters, I/We agree that:

1.  Participation in this program does not exempt presenters from paying registration fees if attending any other 2nd EMDR Asia Philippine Conference sessions.

2.  The individual (Chair) submitting this proposal and signing this form agrees to receive all Conference correspondence and accepts responsibility for conveying Conference related information to their co-presenters.

3.  Appropriate “Release of Confidential Information” forms should be obtained for all client materials that will be used or recorded as part of your presentation. The responsibility for protecting client confidentiality and compliance rests with the presenter(s).

4.  The individual submitting this proposal and signing this form agrees that all work presented at the 2nd EMDR Asia Conference, Philippines, 2014 must conform to discipline-appropriate National or Professional Ethical Standards and the EMDR Europe/ EMDRIA Professional Code of Conduct.

5.  I agree to disclose any significant financial interest or other affiliation with any commercial supporter or manufacturer of any commercial products discussed within your presentation.

6.  The individual submitting, including those within the proposal, agree to be present in Philippines at the 2nd EMDR Asia Conference, Philippines 10-11 January 2014, and agree to present their workshop at the specified date and time assigned to this presentation by the Asian EMDR Conference Scientific Committee, and furthermore to conduct this proposed presentation according to the conditions listed above.

7.  You agree that no changes can be made to your submission (such as: title, abstract summary, objectives,) once it has been accepted by the 2nd EMDR Asia Conference Scientific Committee unless requested to do so by the Conference Committee.
