About Homero Campos

I have met Homero who has come from Ecuador, the city of Ambato. He was born in April’26. He came to the United States in October 2000. He is attending LaGuardia Community College due to fulfill his first option. He is majoring in commercial Photography. He received one-year diploma of Graphic Design before he comes to the United States.
Homero is a simple, hardworking and ambitious man. He is working at Sears as a sales consultant. He lives with his parents in sunny side, Queens. He usually drives his own Mitsubishi car to get to college.
This young man likes to eat sweet and sour chicken. In addition, he likes sports, such as swimming, soccer, car races, biking, hiking and backpacking. Also he likes to selling and fixing cars. On the other hand, his dream to drive an F1 car.
I asked him what he would do if he were a mayor. He replied that he wanted to help minorities. Also he told me about Rudy Giuliani that he is a role of strength and hope. By the way, also he told me that Bill Clinton is a good man but couple of mistakes. The final question I asked him was what kind of people he liked. He told me that he liked funny people, but he disliked lies and two faces people.
Romero is a man who came from Latin America is an ambitious, creative and talent man. As a proof of this, he got first place on computer application in mechanics. He always hopes to go back to his country one time due to miss his friends and life style.
Thus, he likes Salsa, Hiphop, Latino and Rock music. Also he likes to use sunglasses and shoes. I wish his good future.

I mat Jackie in our ESL 099 3351 class. She is a lovely person. She is from Shangsai the city of China. She came to U.S. at 1996. She lives in Queens, Flushing with her sister. She has a full time job. She works as a clerk. Her typing speed is very fast, at least 50 wpm.
Her major is "Computer Programming and system analysis." She had finished her two years of college from her country, now she wants to learn more and because of that she took her admission to the La Guardia Community College. She likes to spend time as much as she needs to finish her study. Before starting the class ESL 099 3351 she took ESL 098. She likes to practice Grammar.
Her fist language is chinese and birthday is Sept,12. She also knows little bit of Japanese language. Her favorite color is black, number is 8, and food is sushi, she miss her food and entertainment from her country.
She comes to school by subway. The most about of the U.S., which she likes is freedom. She likes to play computer games. Swimming is her favorite sport which she likes to do on summer time. She wants to learn cook. In future she will buy a nice house.
She never seen Broadway show and never won any prize.

When you get in an univernity,specialy Laguardia community college,there menu ways to learn.Students at Laguardia have some good Teachers as big helps,the computer lab to do home work and a partner to communicate and change some good idea While I’m learning things about my parter,it’s special to me to let my Teacher Rick Shur, knows Some good things too about our homework.
That special woman is “Diana” She from Puerto Rico,lives in Manhattan borough of N.Y.C. She born in 1/20/83 and left her country the same year to U.S.A. That little girl from town of Bayamon is Now a big woman with husband and one boy,her first language is Spanish,the most thing she likes about U.S.A is school, this is the reason why she is in Laguardia and choose liberal arts as major.While I’m talking about liberal arts,Diana has some abilities like:little art and she’s a singer. So, when our graduation is coming up she will may be sing for us. Diana receive a lot of education before and she likes smart people.She never think to go back to Puerto Rico but,some time she is missing the weather and the family.She don’t like to talk about politics but,she think Bill Clinton is a great man and if one shr become mayor of N.Y.C she would like to do a lot of difference.She’s a lucky woman,some time she won money in game and she received prices for good take care of children.She is taking train to school,she doesn’t have a car.If nex year she has money she will like to buy an expensive computer may be to find out about tikets prices to go Mexico some valentines day and dance salsa and merengue.That the kinds of music she likes..Diana would like to go to Jamaica during fall, her favorite season, she would like to put on a bleue tank top, swimming in the pool and play volley ball.After that,she would like to go to the most beautiful restaurant of Jamaica and eats rice and beans her favorite food.

Let me introduce you to my classmate Emran. He came from Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2000 and now he lives here in Jamaica, New York with a roommate. Now he's working as a part time in a restaurant. Emran speaks Bengali as first language; he knows Urdu, Hindi and English as well. His birthday is on May 15.
He comes every day in subway after work for his classes in La Guardia College where he picked Computer Science as major, now he has to approve ESL class as a requirement; He likes this college a lot. It his first time also taking classes here. He's really good by computers and everything that has to be with it, especially on designing web pages. Emran practices his skills on typing and designing in home where he has his own computer or any place that he can find a computer. As a student Emran finished school back in his country, he has a bachelor degree in Commerce. Of our class he likes grammar tips and new acknowledge on that topic. He usually expends two hours doing his homework.
He miss a lot his family and friends in Bangladesh, always thinking in have the chance to come back again but he likes people and their cultures in this country and enjoys the sprint season here. Last summer he went to the gym and swan a lot; another activities that he does are soccer and cricket. One of the special holidays for him is New Year's Eve whether here or back in home.
Emran's favorite number is 19, olive is his favorite color, rice and vegetables favorite food, jeans and T-shirt make him very comfortable.
He'd buy a good car if he'd have more money but now he doesn't like to drive now; Emran was involved in a motorcycle accident a while ago.
He's not sure what expensive item he'll buy next year but there is plenty time to think over that, however one of his futures plans are traveling that includes Switzerland as one of his stops.
Stop all crimes and drugs sells will be the most important issues to solve if he were major of New York City. Major Rudy Guiliani was the perfect man for that position. Emran says about Mr. Guiliani.
Emran haven't been in a live show on Broadway but he saw "Sighs" the movie lately and he liked it.
Emran despite classic people and feels comfortable surrounded of confidential and friendly people, which are some of the qualities that he looks for in a person.

After we talk in school I was able to know her a little better. We also communicate by E-mails to each other.
My partner's name is Shino, she is originally from Japan, Tokyo but is living in this country for two years. She lives in Astoria, Queens which makes very convenient to her to come to Laguardia; she just has to take the train and in a short time she is at the school.
She works for a limousine car service doing office duties in general.
Her first language is Japanese and so far it is the only fluent language that she speaks.
She is studying Business Administration and plan one day go back to Japan.
Her favorite season is the summer, she loves eating bread and blue is her favorite color.
Shin, just like me, loves the New Year and have traveled to Florida too.
I asked her what country she would like to visit and she said Colombia for many reasons.
This is Shin first semester at Laguardia but she have attented college two years already.
She is thinking for the next year to get a new computer as well a car if she can afford it; since she already has a driver's license and knows how to drive, but does not have a car yet.
Talking about political things, she did not have much to say, as for her, Major Rudy Giuliani as well as Bill Clinton did a good job.
We also talked about what kinds of people that she likes, she told me that anybody with a good heart, friendly, hard-working and specially responsible.
Hopefully we should get to know each other much better this semester and begin a nice friendship.

Luciana who was born on November 17 of 1972 in a very pretty city called Bello Horizonte in the country Brazil, arrived to the United States ten years ago. Nowadays she lives in Astoria Queens with her daughter and mom. She goes to La Guardia College and works in an office as a receptionist. Everyday after work she takes the train to go to class.
She has a computer at home and she is very good at typing she can even type 35 words per minute and she is also good at drawing. The thing that she misses the most from his country is the food and her favorite day is the New Year. She thinks that Bill Clinton was a good president and Rudy Giuliani did a good job as a mayor. When Luciana has some free time she likes to listen Spanish music and go to the movies. She recently saw a movie called Johnny Q. which she thinks is great and highly recommends.
She really would like to go to Italy in the future. Her favorite possession is her car and if she had more money she would buy a house. If you want to be a friend of Luciana you should know that her favorite food is shrimp and she likes people who are honest and friendly, but she doesn’t like those who are not sociable or irresponsible.

When I went to school in my country the Dominican Republic, I knew a lot of friends, but something is different here in the United States because here we know people of different countries, languages and cultures than my country and it is very interesting for me. I am studying at LaGuardia Community College and most of my friends are from different countries. I want to present you one of them. His name is Rick Shur, but we can call him Rick.
He was born in Manhattan, U.S. on December 19, 1953, but he raised on long island. His first language was English. Also he speaks Spanish, French, some German, a little Russian, and a little Chinese.
His favorite color is blue, and his favorite food is lobster. He likes Broadway shows tunes and House and Techno. He likes to dance. I asked him about what kind of people he likes and he told me that he likes smart and funny people, but he dislike people who are always negative. He likes to swim every day and something that he enjoyed this summer was to swim with some triathletes at a pool in Manhattan. He likes to compose songs, which we can see on his web site.
He has been teaching since 1979. He teaches ESL at LaGuardia, and Linguistics at C.W. Post College on Long Island. He also has other educations, for example he has a BA in psycholinguistics and an MA in education, both from Columbia University. He knows how to write programs and create web sites, and he has been typing since he was ten years old. After all the educations that he has, he also wants to learn Visual Basic Net and Microsoft’s newest language.
He knows how to drive, but he doesn’t have a car. He only drives when he is in another country that he has to rent one, so he comes to his job by subway
He went to China last year for an educational conference. I think that this travel could be a very interesting experience. He wants to know Europe because he has never been there.
Rick Shur is a very good man. It is incredible all the things that he knows. He is very intelligent and beautiful person. I hope that my classmate can know all about him as I know now.

This is reason why she came to United State.
Layla likes all the season. Especially, she likes
a summer.Because she loves summing and a beach very

English barrier. sometimes, to make Americans

is not easy for a foreigner.But she speaks very well

About Miao Yu

Miao Yu came from Fuzhou, China in 1999. His primary language is Chinese Mandarin. His birthday is on November 11. Currently has an apartment in Elmhurst New York where he lives by himself, but someday he would like to get married and have children. Being in the United States for only three years he went into the Army. He was recently discharged from the Army due to an injury to his hip. Miao doesn’t miss anything from China and he has no desire to return there. He likes living here because of the challenge that the United States represents to him. He thinks that Bill Clinton is a lucky man and a liar. Miao thinks that former Major Guliani is a smart Italian boy. If Miao were mayor of New York he would give Veterans more benefits.
Miao has a computer at home which he uses all the time. In China he learned to use his computer for all his schoolwork and for entertainment. He can type 40 words per minute; which I think is very good for a man. Claiming to be a fast learner is the reason why he says he is good at everything. If he had more money he would give it to the needy. At the moment Miao takes the train to school because he doesn’t have a driver’s license yet, but he would like to buy a car next year.
ESL099 is his first ESL course in La Guardia Community College. He had some college education before he came to La Guardia. His major is business management. He thinks that he should spend less than an hour doing his homework. He would like to practice his speech more in class. Although Miao has never won a prize or money in a game of chance, he won several awards for Math and computers back in China.
He has never seen a Broadway show. Recently he saw Black Hawk Dawn which he enjoyed very much. Casablanca is one of his favorites movies. Since being here in the United States he has been to other cities other than just New York, like New England. He would like to go to Paris someday.
He likes the people that like him and dislikes the people that treat him like a handicapped person. His favorite holiday is Independence Day. Number 7 is Miao’s favorite number and sky blue his favorite color. His favorite food is steak. He likes to wear loose fitting comfortable clothes and listens to country music. His favorite season of the year is the winter. He enjoys watching baseball games. He would love to play baseball but can’t due to his injury. His favorite and most precious possession is his life.
