Wilton Creek E-Bits
April 22, 2011
Board of Directors Meeting:
The next Board meeting is Monday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m., in the Clubhouse.
New Chlorination System for the Clubhouse Pool:
At the April 18 CWCOA Board of Directors Meeting, the Board approved the conversion to a more natural chlorination process, commonly referred to as a “Salt Water Pool” system.
The salt water system is an improvement over bacteria control by addition of chlorination tablets. The water will feel softer rather than harsh with smell of bleach. Salt content is controlled below the taste threshold and steady chlorination levels are easier to maintain. We will still have potential for algae problems which are exasperated by the numerous trees around the pool and we will continue use of various algaecides. We will still have to remove leaves and other debris – owners can help by scooping out any leaves, as our pool contractor only cleans twice a week. You can also help by cleaning up when you leave and taking your trash home, as we do not have paid trash pickup.
We plan to have the pool open Memorial Day weekend.
Social:
Mark your calendars for Saturday night, May 21, for a Hawaiian Luau Potluck Party, at the Clubhouse. Dig out those muumuus, Hawaiian shirts, and dust off that grass skirt that might be hiding in the back of your closet. This will be a night to wear them!
Happy Hour will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. Please bring Polynesian/Asian dishes, if possible, and your favorite beverage. The Social Committee will provide pulled pork, but other main dishes will be welcomed. Questions, please contact Committee Chair, Trudy Feigum at 804-776-0833.
Celebration of Life Reception for Shirley Seidel Allan:
Phil Allan and his family are having an informal gathering of family and friends to celebrate Shirley’s life. Shirley passed away in December 2010.
Please join them, on Saturday, April 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at 983 Wilton Coves Drive, to help celebrate her life.
Ken Archer:
Ken Archer, who had his boat, “Hydrydol” berthed at Wilton Creek for many years, passed away in November 2010. Ken knew many of the boat owners at Wilton Creek and always enjoyed the time he spent here working on his boat, sailing with friends, and the peace and quiet of the Coves. Ken and his wife, Barbara Ettner, resided in Midlothian, VA and owned a condo unit in the Villa’s. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family.
Boat Slip for Lease:
Slip 19 at Mariner’s Point is available for lease to Coves at Wilton Creek Owners for either the 6 month boating season, beginning May 1, or for the year ending May 31, 2012. The year will be at a discounted rate for the winter months. Currently, there is no electricity at the slip, but that is negotiable.
