Carolina Galaxies Gazette

Vol 1 Fall/Winter 2003

Well it has finally happened! Our first Gazette! It’s going to start simple… just one or two pages for now with a goal will to publish it quarterly. Hopefully with time our chapter will become larger and more active and we can publish more often. We have been an official chapter for over 7 months now and we currently have 27 members! I am enclosing a chapter roster in this issue. Please let me know if there are any errors or omissions so I can get it updated.

The temporary logo above will be short lived. I “borrowed” it from the Ride Thru Times Chapter and would like for us to have our own by next spring. I have secured the talents of a graphic artist so all we have to do is come up with a logo and she can get to work on it. I need your ideas! I have already began working on my concept for a logo which is similar to the one above except I plan to change the two checkered flags for NC and SC state flags and have the name across the middle. A second idea I have is very similar but it has an outline of the NC and SC states behind it. If you have ideas for a logo, please get a copy to me by 1 March so we can put them up to a popular vote at our next meeting.

We now have two email addresses: and . This will keep it simple when people are trying to remember an address to reach us at. I hope to get started on our website soon... once I get some time and the URL from Mark Reynolds, I’ll get started. In the mean time, send in pics of your car if you want them on the site. I’ve also considered a chapter egroup through Yahoo, much like the national club has. I’ll keep you posted!

Finally, probably the most important agenda in this issue… next years schedule! I have tried my best to locate a good place/event/time to get the most of us together at one time… and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s VERY difficult to do! So I’ve decided to list the first big car show in our area and set up our first planned meeting for 2004 at that show. It will be:

April 15-18, 2004 Charlotte, NC - The Ford Owners Association All Ford Show At Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Check out their web site http://www.fordowners.org/ for news. Point of contact is Carol Barker, Mecklenburg Region Administration (704) 347-6032

If enough members need hotel info for the area, I will look into arranging rooms for us all at the same place. Let me know if this is the case for you so I can get a head count. I figured the majority will probably drive down for the day, but it would be fun for us all to stay at the same hotel!

Also, just for your info, the Charlotte Auto Fair at Lowe’s Motor Speedway will be on the following dates this year (No plans for the chapter at these events):

Spring Auto Fair April 1-4 Fall Auto Fair Sept 16-19

As I get more info on additional shows, I’ll publish it in future chapter newsletters. For the time being, here’s some info Don Poole has provided some info on Central NC shows:

Cruises at: Troy's on Old Mountain Rd in Statesville, NC every Friday,

Quisnos Restaurant in Salisbury, NC every Wed night, in Mocksville, NC

every1st and 3rd Monday starting in March and in Farmington, NC at the

Dragstrip This event also has free time trials the 2nd Monday starting in March.

Mocksville and Farmington Dragstrip are really great and draw 2or 3 hundred cars.

Also, here’s some info I have on Central SC cruises and shows:

Cruises at the Palmetto Plaza in Sumter SC every 3rd Saturday. Also, Shaw AFB

in SC has an annual show that is free and has some nice prizes… no date yet.

Let me know if there’s a good show or cruise near you! Below you will find some ads and info. Hope you all enjoyed this first newsletter! See you and your “Gals” next spring!
