Dufferin Construction Company is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Safety Advisor.

Location of this position is varied between the GTA/Golden Horseshoe area.

Job Duties:

  • Attend personal training programs as directed by your Manager to upgrade professional development.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Dufferin Certificate of Recognition (COR) administered by the IHSA.
  • Monitor and promote loss control initiatives of all employees and subcontractors.
  • Recommend appropriate work practices.
  • Support line personnel in their duties with regard to loss control initiatives.
  • Develop and facilitate training programs, policies and procedures as part of the company’s goal of ZeroHarm.

Educational Criteria:

  • Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or Civil Engineering Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of construction-related experience.
  • CRSP preferred.
  • CN Security Clearance, Construction Health & Safety Officer (CHSO) designation would be an asset.

Communication:

  • Oral and written skills should be at an advanced level. Fluency in a relevant second language (Italian, Portuguese) would be an asset.
  • Proficient computer skills required.

Working Conditions:

  • Full G license or equivalent. Company vehicle will be provided.
  • Vehicle travel is frequent and occasionally extensive. Travel to projects and facilities is required from Kitchener, Niagara, Oshawa and surrounding areas.
  • Night work, weekend work and overtime may be required, based on operational requirements.
  • Observing, collecting data and interacting with workers, supervisors and peers is required.
  • The incumbent must work in office and field setting.
  • This position requires the candidate to possess full and unrestricted physical mobility.
