Fremont County Democrats

Meeting Minutes

June 14, 2015

The meeting was called to order by Chair Ron Howard at 4:15 pm. There were approximately 17 persons in attendance. We met at the Wind River Tribal College in Ethete.

The Minutes of May 3, 2015 were read and approved as read. No treasurer's report was given.

A motion was made to reimburse Mary for her expenditures for give-aways for the summer Pow Wows. The amount was $111.70.

A discussion was then held about the t-shirts we want to print and sell, particularly on the Reservation. Sandy and Eric provided costs and info and Ron worked with everyone on a design for the front and back of the shirts. It was decided to get 50 shirts made in sizes SMLXL2XL in blue and in white with all lettering to be black. Ron will order the shirts so they will be available by the June 27 Pow Wow. We will sell them for $1 profit, probably around $7-8 each.

Our guest was Nina Miller who is working on a petition to place in front of the voters a vote to establish an ambulance district which would collect taxes for county ambulance services. Nina was given many suggestions to get the word out, we signed her petition and congratulated her on her courageousness in dealing with the County Commissioners and the County Clerk. All were encouraged to attend the county commissioners meetings.

July 4th plans were made. Eric has the float, Mary is to order bunting, bows, and such to decorate it at a cost no higher than $50-100. Sandy will order candy and was authorized to spend $100. Kathleen and Bruce said we really need people on the float and walkers or our float does not go over well in the community. Those helping will meet at the Lander Valley High School at 8:30 am on July 4th. Bruce will sign us up for the parade. Kathleen will do a sign(s). Everyone participating should wear blue or white, NOT red.

The big Pow Wow coming up is June 26-28 and we decided to set up a table from 6-9 pm on Saturday, June 27. We will have applications for voter registrations. We will give out trinkets to the children and flag pins to the adults. Volunteers are to let Ron know what time they can be there so he can organize the event. We also hope to sell t-shirts and have brochures ready to give out.

Bruce made the announcement about the Roosevelt-Kennedy Dinner in Jackson on August 22. The event will be at the Snow King resort. Bruce, Sergio, Ron, Rod and Kathleen are supposed to attend and others as desired. Bruce did not know the costs yet but information will be out soon.

Bruce also said that Fremont County still has not reached its donation goal to the state party. He also said that a state communications director has been hired and will start soon. This job and Aimee Van Cleave's job are paid by the national party.

Door prizes were distributed.

Our next meeting will be on Sunday, July 19, 2015 location to be announced, 4-6 pm.

The meeting adjourned at 5:55 pm.

Minutes respectfully taken by,

Mary Haper, Secretary
