Ash Wednesday: 2/18/15—8:00 AM and 7:00 PM

I would ask that you think about this video I’m about to show you. It’s about Jesus’ forty days in the desert on which this Season of Lent is based on. As you watch it, I would ask that you let its music sink into you:

Such remarkable, such haunting, such moving words:

Oh, how He loves, yeah, He loves us, Oh, how He loves us, oh, how He loves us, oh, how He loves…

And we are His portion and He is our prize Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes If His grace is an ocean, we're all sinking And heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss And my heart turns violently inside of my chest I don't have time to maintain these regrets When I think about the way, how He loves us, Oh, how He loves us, how He loves…

Jesus took that time in the desert out of love for us as this song so perfectly describes.

We know all kinds of four letter words. Did you ever stop and think about the fact that “Lent” is a four letter word? But Lent is also about another four letter word: “Love.” In a sense, Lent equals Love (show sign: Lent=Love). Not only does Lent express Jesus’ love for us, but it’s also a chance, an opportunity, for us to show our love for Jesus by how we live this season.

Please take this season seriously. May it be a time for us to rediscover Jesus’ love for us, and may it be a time for us to grow in our love for him:

Oh, how He loves, yeah, He loves us, Oh, how He loves us, oh, how He loves us, oh, how He loves…
