HOLIDAY HELP IN THE COMMUNITY

* Individuals do not need to be Catholic or a member of aparish in order to obtain assistance from a parish.

  • Toys for Tots (Suffolk)
  • Collects new, unwrapped toys that are given as free Christmas gifts to needy children.Individual family requests must be submitted through your local church or social service office. They will begin taking organizational requests on October 1st. All requests must be received by November 30.

  • Hot meal offered on Thanksgiving at 12pm, 1543 Montauk Hwy., Bellport. Please call first to reserve a spot.
  • Will also be giving out turkeys at street outreach locations (listed below), available on first come first serve basis, limited quantity.
  • Collects toys for children for Christmas. * Must live within South Country school district.Call 451-TOWN to obtain help, if you are not a part of this district.
  • Daily Street Food Outreaches - Box trucks go out stocked with emergency food, clothes & other necessities. You do not need paperwork to receive food. Street outreaches are held outdoors,rain or shine, hot or cold, ALL year.*Anyone can attend

  • Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
  • Assists low-income New Yorkers with the cost of heating their homes.
  • Individuals can begin applying on Monday, November 17. Eligible households can receive a one-time benefit of up to $625 this winter from the program.
  • Eligible households can receive one regular benefit per season and could also be eligible for an emergency benefit if they are in danger of running out of heating fuel or having their utility service shut off. Applications for emergency benefits will be accepted beginning Friday, January 2, 2015. Households in an energy emergency situation should call their local department of social services for assistance.
